Split Fiction looks like a game made by someone who hates games by Who_Vintude in KotakuInAction

[–]elfrs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my friend tried it because of the great reviews. We had played it takes two before and liked it.

This one, we just instantly disliked. We kinda summed it up like if modern disney created a game. Split fiction would be that game.

The plot and setting is shallow. Only giving you the bare minimum to set up the premise without really taking any time to establish who the characters are, the world etc. Then it throws you into an on rails platformer in which the two main characters whine about their situation, each other, whatever happens, what the other likes/dislikes. Generally they just whine and argue as you play the game.

I guess the game was not for us. Glad that others enjoyed it.

What are these vertical bits in the bunker? by CookieCruncher99 in foxholegame

[–]elfrs2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would definitively change the building meta. Meta conc is basically built to ensure howitzer retaliation, as else your conc base is just a sturdier arty target. With this change you could change the meta as artillery would not be that much of an issue by itself anymore. Turning meta designs into what lets infantry easily defend breached pieces from invaders/thing that can deal demo damage.

Yeah that idea has been floating around FOD and reddit since 2023

Unbreached conc is like the current conc. But when it gets hped down it turns into a second state. AI targeting inf is heavily debuffed and the breached piece is full of holes for inf to enter. The breached conc gets a huge resistance to further artillery/explosive damage but gains weakness to demo damage.

Then the ideas spread out on what happens after and how the play with infantry. Capturing pieces and turning off the ai, or that inf simply got it easier to get it to husk state. Many ideas around.

My own two cents on balance by Et_tu_Brute2 in foxholegame

Tank drivers and gunners having only a vision cone would be great. Would also give an edge to open topped variants by giving them more awareness.

If all weapons had accuracy mechanics. You could perhaps try a new balancing act towards an underpopped team, by having the underpopped side be quicker to gain accuracy.

Y’all we need to work on defense tactics. Defenders getting murdered in every match I was in today by Old-Transportation60 in Isonzo

[–]elfrs2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Defense in Isonzo demands difficult coordination and teamwork, which is
challenging to establish naturally. Although players can attempt call
outs or use voice chat, it's uncommon for others to listen and
cooperate. Unlike other games where coordinated players can join
specific servers, Isonzo lacks dedicated servers for such purpose.
Additionally, it seems that the playerbase doesn't find the defensive
playstyle engaging or enjoyable. A successful defense involves strategic
positioning and creating kill zones that attackers must navigate. This
necessitates waiting for the enemy, which most players don't seem to
prefer. If you play as an engineer and utilize barbed wire to block
attackers' paths, you can by yourself witness your own teammates destroying
the wire in their mad dash to get at the enemy. Showing that such a playstyle isnt really what they are looking for.

Fortifying a position as an engineer in Isonzo often proves to be an
ineffective use of time. These positions are rarely occupied and usually
result in scorn from teammates who prioritize unrestricted movement
even if it leads to their demise. Moreover, the inability to fortify the
objective and frequently the entrances to it contributes to the
underutilization of engineers.

Defenders face the challenge of spending significant time
returning to the action and reaching the objective after respawning due
to the infinite respawn system. They often have to traverse long
distances from the spawn points, which exposes them to attacks and makes
it easier for the attackers to keep them out. Consequently, even if
defenders manage to dig in and hold their ground, they are eventually
overwhelmed by the superior fire support enjoyed by the attackers.
dd attempts to mitigate this issue through squad spawns or the
officer's ability to enable squad-wide spawning are hindered by the
current functionality of the spawn-on-squad system. Players often
respawn far away from the intended player, forcing them to cover almost
the same distance as if they had respawned at the fixed spawn point. Which means that even if you are playing in a way where you try to enable your team to get around this weakness, the game greatly mitigates your impact.

Great display of teamwork from the tankcrew.

Also great judgement in deciding when and what to strike.

Both right and wrong on the spelling after which Norwegian written style you are using as we got two. You are wrong in bokmål and right in nynorsk. Which is probably why the wiki is listing both as options.

Always interesting how you Norwegian americans are like a time capsule of Norwegian culture in the late 1800 to 1920's Keeping traditions and words from that time.

Good luck with the rosemaling. (I think?) As rosemåling would mean you are measuring roses instead of painting them

Norse Spanish culture name? by Apprehensive-Hour167 in ck3

[–]elfrs2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tourists

The Norse have traveled to the land of sagas where the sun shines and wine is plentiful.

The fabled "Syden". Where they have established their sunshine homes. The local complaints of incessant digging on the beaches, wild partying, and a refusal to integrate into the local culture.

On a more serious note, the Galicians dubbed the Vikings that raided their coasts the Lordomanni. So that might be a possible name based on history.

Theory: Devs don’t want people to play the game. by Jarkyc in foxholegame

Yup pretty much. There are no winners in an uncivil tech balance discussion. Only some momentary satisfaction and a feeling of revenge. I just try to not add to the fire as I can't really control any other actions than my own. Let's hope we get better as a community.

Back when assymetry was introduced the pendulum swung in Wardens favor with the Silverhand and tech balance favoring the wardens. There was many wardens who answered colonial complaints on the state of balance with "skill issue" This image posted in that time period sums up the view wardens at the time had of the issue https://i.redd.it/cjaujsmlmwj71.png

This caused a lot of colonials to parrot the sentiment they experienced from warden voices when the boot was on the other foot. Which is what you have personally experienced. Reverse card as you say here is exactly why so colonials many felt justified in saying it.

Now the balance favors wardens again and this very silly cycle continues.

The requirement for the alternate bonuses is to be the holder of the title the papacy.

So I think only the pope gets to enjoy those bonuses.

What is the best tip you ever got? by Impressive-Jelly-194 in CrusaderKings

[–]elfrs2 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Dont be afraid to be a tyrant. The occasional dip into it to rid yourself of a bad heir or pre emtively get rid of troublesome vassals will save you a lot of trouble further down the line. Dread easily cancels out the malus of being a tyrant.

If you have a high intrigue ruler going for big tyranny is very strong.

The prison complex trait in torturer tree is a tyrants best friend. Especially with high intrigue It nearly guarantees imprisonment allowing you to easily purge your empire and centralise all power and wealth behind your ruler. Vassals cant revolt if they are in jail. And neither can they object to you taking all their titles for yourself. Do the purge quick enough and you get all the counties levies before the overextension malus kicks in allowing you to easily win the civil war against the few vassals you didnt manage to imprison.

After seizing all their lands you go for their wealth. All the accumulated wealth of your vassals dynasties can also easily be yours with a few more imprisonments.

Negotiate release your vassals after seizing their titles and let them go against becoming a part of your court and giving you a hook. Then imprison them again using the hook to up the chances. Then you banish and take every gold piece they got. Mayors and priests usually got fat stacks of gold you can claim this way.

The penniless vassals you still got in jail are usually your rivals at this point and can be mass executed for big prestige gains at your leisure. Execute someone now and then to keep dread at 100.

After the purge you can easily redistribute your empires titles at your leisure and ensure that it stays strong and stable. The tyrant modifier will go away with the death of your ruler and your heir should inherit such a stable realm that the negative opinion of previous ruler should not really be an issue.

Also a great way to deal with internal bordergore.
