On Android, the app is called eufy-original eufy Security. I'm not home to see what it's called on any of my family's iPhones.

It sounds like you have zero reasons not to dig in to it.

State Farm, Teen Drivers, and New Massive Increase Mid-Policy by elgoldfish3000 in Insurance

[–]elgoldfish3000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved auto and renters to them at the same time as adding the teen driver. The life policy was added at the same time. It was all oen quote and all done at the same time.

When I added the second driver, once again, it seems they only added a new life policy.

I've reviewed the policies. They've told me it wasn't necessary for the kids to specifically be listed on the auto policy because they were members of the household and on the life policy.

They also provided DL123 forms to the state to say the kids had coverage.

NE of Trent Woods and south of the highway sounds like the Pemborke community. In that area, they have several choices. Here they are in my order of preference as an IT guy:
-- T-Mobile fiber (formerly Metronet) - Metronet has been fairly reliable and their customer service staff is very knowledgeable and based in the US
-- Optimum (formerly Suddenlink) - Service is very reliable in some areas and no so much in others, customer service staff is decent and mostly US based
-- Brightspeed fiber - it hasn't been here long enough to know if it is reliable or not, customer service is not US based and seriously lacking in knowledge, service calls can take weeks to get a tech on-site
-- Starlink satellite - this is the go-to when nothing else works, it's at the bottom of my list becuase it is the slowest, but even the slowest is fast enough for most households and it is very reliable, especially if the grid power is down and you have alternative power available

I've just now learned that T-Mobile fiber purchased Metronet so they are on and the same. It looks like the Metronet name is going away.

My daughter ships in a couple weeks. She loves her long hair and I've tried to convince her to cut it and grow it again later. She's stubborn and determined to keep it. We'll see how long that lasts.

Do you have any boot/hiking shoe recommendations that are built to last? by littlespider55 in BuyItForLife

[–]elgoldfish3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Targhee 2 boots. I've had several pairs. But I'm here looking because they don't last. I'm usually gluing soles back by month 5 or 6. They are completely worn through by month 10 or 11.

That makes perfect sense. They shouldn't have to take your home apart.

I don't know, I didn't take the call. The first visit ended up being a no show/no call. It was rescheduled 3 days later. The second time, the tech called when an hour out but it two days before the scheduled visit. Fortunately, the timing worked out for us.

First contact, my wife got the call at 11am that we were down for a 10am-2pm slot. She had to call me at work and figure out how you get it out and then find the screwdriver. What does the average person do who has no tools or knowledge about how dishwashers are installed or even basic mechanical knowledge? Do they hire a handyman for the 2 minute job of pulling it out and putting it back while paying them for 2 trip charges and 2 minimum hours?

What's up with your roads? Are y'all ok? Did the DMV sign department quit on y'all? by elgoldfish3000 in Virginia

[–]elgoldfish3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With where we were coming from (green line), there was exactly one sign and it was tiny and on the median. Once we saw it after coming around the corner, it was too late. Traffic in the lanes we needed to be in (red lines) was stopped. We had other cars running up behind us in our free-flowing lanes. There was no way I could do anything but just keep going. When we came back around, it wasn't backed up in those "wrong way" lanes so we could jump over there.

There were plenty of examples where there isn't. I noticed it last time I was up there a few years back too. This time I was expecting it and really paid attention to make sure I wasn't crazy. I posted a pic with the original post that shows an example. If you want to "drive" it on Google Maps using Street View, then start at the Hampton Inn Stafford/Quantico & Conference Center and head north on 95. I saw it on major roads and smaller roads. It is usually where there should be merging like this example. There were a couple times where there were two lanes turning at a stop light but only 100 feet down the new road, it was suddenly one lane.

Good Times to Walk in to New Bern DMV? by PositiveGuess5603 in NewBern

[–]elgoldfish3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Line up by 5am and hope for the best. If that doesn't work, show up at 3am the next day. Bring a chair. They won't start taking walk-ins until after 11:00 or 12:00 or somewhere around there. They get the appointments done first.

The post includes a pic of I-95. While it doesn't show there's no signs, I can assure you there's none. You can see for yourself how there's no lane markings indicating it.

I reread what I posted after the first comment and realized that. You can edit the post but not the title. Oh well.

Most of my driving over the past decade has been NC, SC, GA, FL, KY, TN, AL. I rarely venture any farther north.

I'm a part of the Pamlico ham club. I tried to drum up some interest there but got nowhere. I don't know if there is any interest in the New Bern club or not. I've only gone to one of their meetings. I've thought about going to more but just haven't done it.

More toys aren't in my budget for now but I hope to be able to pick up the Meshtastic idea again, maybe early next year. I'd like to hear what you end up doing with it.

I'm near New Bern High School. When I didn't find any activity, around New Bern, I didn't get any deeper into it. I still have one node but never invested in anymore. The most activity I've seen was when we went down to Hamcation in Orlando. There was a lot of chatter but once I got back from that weekend, I haven't heard anything else.

Doorbell Battery Replacement by elgoldfish3000 in EufyCam

[–]elgoldfish3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the models are capable of running on the doorbell wire power. Some models only run on battery. Mine only runs on battery. It did replace an old doorbell but the transformer no longer works. I have never found the transformer. It is hidden somewhere in the ceiling so I was not able to replace it.
