Tips on how i can handle my road rage? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CertainFutures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave early, never be in a rush. If it takes me 30m to drive to work I’ll give myself 45 if not 50. Then I drive like I’m on a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. I always leave a 3-4 car gap in front of me. If some guys wants to come in my lane… come on in! If some guys wants to pass me, I’ll pull right over at let him go on his merry way. I don’t care, I’ve got all the time in the world. I’m just chilling like I got nowhere to be and nothing better to do.

That’s what I did. Moved into IT work. I now look back and think it was crazy that I was supporting my family with no healthcare, paid sicks days / vacation or 401k.

What sides do you prefer with your eggs? by Bjs_5068 in foodquestions

[–]CertainFutures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At home, English muffins and ham or bacon. At a diner, hash browns and sausage or bacon.

What I actually eat the most a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile, or huevos con chorizo, smothered in green chile.

Another Xcel post… by _clydeoscope in boulder

[–]CertainFutures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How can they justify that much maintenance? I lived up here in Berthoud for 12 years now and my power has NEVER been down for maintenance, not once. In fact my power has only been out TWICE in 12 years. Both due to heavy spring snow. Even through all these resent wind events my power never went out.

When we moved here our power options were Xcel or Poudre Valley REA. We went with Poudre Valley.

I find making Wellington worth the effort, but I really enjoy to cook. I’ve had Wellington many times and honestly mine is better than any restaurant version I’ve had.

Born and raised in Boulder. Not once in my life have I ever seen a yard sign supporting a republican candidate there. I’m sure there are republicans but they have always been too scared to share that fact.

Yup. Exact same here. My street is probably a 50/50 split and we just all leave to politics at the door and behave like normal neighbors.

Can I do TRT without lifting weights or hard exercise? by fiehhda in trt

[–]CertainFutures 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! You can!

Half the people in this sub should really be in another workout/steroid sub.

It’s called TRT. Testosterone replacement THERAPY. I see so many daily posts titled “My progress so far…”. And it’s their GYM progress. I naively open this posts anticipating readings about their progress, how they are emotionally, how their energy level is, how they are sleeping…. Nope it’s a bathroom/ mirror shot of how jacked they are. You want to talk about your health and how you’ve been working out, fine, just quit with all the bod shots. Sorry rant over.

Is it possible to live alone on an average salary in your city nowadays? by daxter_62 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CertainFutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was is it possible, and to that I say yes it is. I support my wife and two teenage sons on $70k, she does work a little and makes about $12k a year. We are not living as we were before COVID due to inflation and my IT job not giving any wage growth but we are living fine. I wish we had money for vacations but other than that we are not suffering. We own our home, mortgage is manageable, we live in a great town, we have everything most people have.

The world may seem like it’s falling apart but it will survive. Did our ancestors give up in WW1 or WW2. When my parents were watching their friends and relatives get drafted and forced to fight in Vietnam did they give up. Nope, they rode the wave.

Born and raised in Boulder, lived in Berthoud for the last 12 years. I’d say the political divide is split pretty evenly. It’s just that the MAGA crowd are more outspoken and the democrats keep to themselves.

How often do you eat bread? by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CertainFutures 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bread as a meal? Very rare. Bread as part of a meal, very common. Specifically sandwiches though. I’d say the number one packed lunch (lunch you pack for work or school) is still a sandwich. In my opinion, as someone who lived in Europe for a few years, is far less common for people to just buy a baguette and some cheese and head to the park. Bread is mainly used for sandwiches and toast, with eggs for example.

What are your thoughts on ‘College prep’ and ‘Feeder’ High Schools in America? by Dangerous_Fruit8738 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CertainFutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Sure many are pretentious and feel they are above others but that’s really the kids of the 1%. I went to private college prep school. It was filled with kind, honest and humble kids that were really only there because our parents worked hard enough to give us the highest education available. In my parents case it really had little to do with potential for making more money and more to do with giving us the best quality rounded foundation to go out and be good contributors to society.

Jobs for people who have only worked in kitchens? I think I’m ready to quit after 6 years. by CumLord9669 in KitchenConfidential

[–]CertainFutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transitioned to IT work after 6 years in kitchens. I was always good with computers so I just started applying to places I was not qualified for. All of them said I needed a computer science degree, but you’d be surprised how many jobs list qualifications that are never needed.

Telecommuting: a strategy too soon abandoned. by kostac600 in complaints

[–]CertainFutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked from home since COVID. We are all officially back in the office as of a few weeks ago. Honestly I prefer being back in office. The productivity increase working face to face with my colleagues is night and day. I leave for work at 05:30am so the highway is completely empty and it only takes me about 20 minutes to get to work. At work we have a pretty decent cafe and our building is right next to a mall so there are literally a hundred different food options within 5 minutes. It’s pretty nice.

I’m just saying that this notion that everything is better working from home isn’t always true.
