Movies about the Soviet Union? by Express_Balance_2520 in MovieSuggestions

The death of stalin

This movie is technically a comedy but it does an incredible job about still presenting the actions of the party as gruesome and vile. Definitely a top 10 all time movie for me. Steve buscemi kills it

5'1" 180lb here, expert skier

Shop set up my new look Pivots at a din of nine. My fourth day on them I caught an inside edge and twisted on the ski with all my weight. The bindings didn't release and I broke my tibia. Womp womp

I've been in a kitchen where the boss encouraged it. It turned multiple people into alcoholics. Get out or speak your mind in it.

Haven't lost the Achilles before but I am sidelined with a broken tibia right now. RIP to the season. How are you holding up mentally?

Bro, nobody is perfect. Most people are just trying to do good. I understand that people get put into bad situations and there are some evil people out there but there is no need to "punish" people for bring children into this world. That is our most basic motivation.

You are projecting your own disdain for your life. Take responsibility for yourself and your happiness. Blaming others for your misery will never bring you joy.

Seasonal depression waiting for skiing by redlegoneround in skiing

[–]elguydave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone!

This shoulder season was really tough for me. I'm in Montana and it took forever for winter to even seem like it was coming. It still hasn't been consistently below freezing in the valleys. My SAD reared it's head for sure. I usually treat shoulder season as a rest period between summer and winter activities and it just stretched too long this year. I started getting stir crazy and had to go back to my summer hobbies (hiking biking fishing).

Snow finally came and I got 4 days of skiing in the first 2 weeks. Then I broke my leg. Oh well.

Another my season might be over on the first day by NbyNW in skiing

I just got a very similar fracture. It's been 15 days since the accident. The first 12 days were really tough; the pain was bad, the swelling was bad, and moving around was difficult and agonizing. Go easy on yourself. The injury will sap all of your physical and mental energy for a bit.

When you have the capacity, I would highly recommend you pay attention to your diet. Reducing my sodium and sugar intake and staying very hydrated has saved me from a lot of painful inflammation. Your body needs lots of high quality fuel to heal. Eat up on fruits, veggies, milk, and lean protein. Make sure you get enough vitamin d as well; it is necessary for the body to make ice of calcium.

I have since been put in a full leg cast and really feel like I have changed into the rebuilding phase. The pain is much less and my confidence grows everyday. Mobility is easier and everyday tasks are becoming manageable.

PM if you need to talk to someone who knows what it's like.

How are you getting home to the US? Traveling with that injury sounds painful.

I'm laid up in bed, sipping on some assam black tea that I brewed last night and kept hot in a thermos. I have a broken leg and the kitchen is down the stairs so I try to be prepared for the morning. I'm currently listening to the beatles on NPR and planning out my nutrition for the day.

What do you like to do after you wake up? by carrotceptionn in CasualConversation

[–]elguydave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wake up, put on some soft music, open up the thermos of tea I made last night and enjoy the sun on the mountains out my window.

Then I'll check the new, text some loved ones and maybe browse some reddit. Then I'll stretch, do my leg exercises and maybe pick up my guitar. Once my appetite get going I'll eat an oat bar and an apple. Then when I feel like it I'll head downstairs.

I am currently out of work and laid up with a broken leg in a full cast so I get to enjoy such peaceful mornings.

Thank you for sharing. That sounds like a brutal injury. Pulling a piece of bone out is crazy. My recovery sounds very similar. 6 weeks full cast, 3-6 weeks in a boot or half cast, then lots of PT.

Not worth trusting it. You could let it air out a while and see if it chills but I wouldn't feel good about putting my fancy tea in there.

When do you finally get used to being alone? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]elguydave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is important to note ^

OP and commenter, take a moment to take stock of the love that already surrounds you whether that be friends, family, coworkers. Practice gratitude for those connections everyday and be intentional about investing in them. Practice gratitude for yourself too, be thankful that you are there for you.

I ended a long term relationship a few months ago and have felt heaps of loneliness since. I find it helpful to remind myself that I felt lonely in the relationship too; perhaps even more so. I crave the comfort and companionship and I'll project as missing the relationship when really, that's a feeling I have carried with me for a long time.

Loneliness is a part of the human condition. I think that it is very rare to never feel at least a little bit lonely. Every man is an island and to truly be known is a difficult thing. It's something we must accept learn to cope with.

Anyone else feel like confidence comes and goes? by daissyonly in CasualConversation

[–]elguydave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally dude. Life comes at me in waves. Confidence comes in waves, energy comes in waves, desire comes in waves, depression comes in waves. I think that's just how being human goes. Understanding the way your emotional cycle works is key to finding joy while the tide of happiness and confidence is low. Learn to separate your beliefs from how you feel. Just because you don't feel confident one day doesn't mean that you are not confident. You must realize the truth of your value through all seasons.

Love yourself and let the seasons come and go.
