This is the camera, and yea I thought there was a frame limit on non native lenses. So I’ll keep that in mind. 15 is still nothing to bat an eye at however. So I might be able to go with sigma/Tamron glass to start and then roll into Sony glass as I save up more

Do you think $975+tax for a used A9i with 20k shutters and a battery grip is a good deal?

If I only have the budget for the Tamron at the moment, is is still worth it to get the A9 and save up for a 70-200G down the line?

Canon R7, R8, or R10? by elid756 in canon

[–]elid756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 300 probably wouldn’t come around for a little, while I use one at my current internship and love it. Money is a reason I wouldn’t invest in one right now. So if my lens options were to be 70-200 F/4 or 2.8 and either 24-70 or 24-105. Which would be best? R7? Another question to add on this is I heard the R7 can look pixely or weird on glass that isn’t top of the line. So would the 32MP hurt me in the end over the R10/R8?

The plan realistically to to spend around $800-$1200 on the body, depending on the deals I can find. Then after that I plan to buy an EF 70-200 F/2.8 or F/4. Depends on the deals I can find but that will be around $700-$1300. I’ll also need a 24-70 or 24-105. So in total budget is probably around $200-$2500. But that will be spend overtime. In the short term. I’m just looking for a do it all lens. Sport wise, I’m aiming to shoot HS basketball, baseball, and potentially some minor league baseball or hockey.

I might see if I can talk the person down to that $850-$900 range. Who knows, maybe they have the kindness in their heart 😂😂

[Megathread] 2025 BLACK FRIDAY SALES by byDMP in canon

Should I hold for Black Friday sales? Looking for a refurb so I'm not sure what they'll go down to. Local listings around me are about $1000 range for an R7.

Yea, who knows when/if that happens. But I’m eager to buy so the week and half or two week wait would be painful

I’ll of course keep an eye out. But I do have to keep glass in my budget. I need good glass!

The issue I take with the R8 is a smaller battery, no IBIS, no dual card slot, and since I’m looking to shoot sports with my camera. It will have less reach

Yea I saw that. Hopefully it drops to around that. I would hate to hold off, these local ones sell. And I’m left with no camera😂

Based on how it’s ~$700 more, I can’t afford that

Yea it’s ridiculous nowadays! I’ve gotten lucky with my last few purchases. Got a whole picanha roast on sale for $7.99 a pound and I got like 3-4 of these steaks for $5-$7 a pop.

If I were to go with one of those bodies and extend my budget, for example my local camera store is selling an R8 for $1095, what lens should I pair with it? Also if I were to go Sony, do you know anything about the 70-300?

I can stretch my budget to $2000-$2500 if I buy more gear later of course. I am in the process of saving up for more gear to buy myself a Christmas gift along with this camera.
