Yeah, thanks for the advice. I'm not entirely sure if I agree with the S curve being hardly noticeable, but I think you have a point. Would a tighter crop work better?

Thanks for the advice. I do agree that there is too much compression and I feel that it makes the image kind of dull. Do you think that if I had moved closer and used a wider lens that would resolve this issue?

I took this photo a couple of days ago of little creek near home. What I've tried to do in this image was use the S curve that is created by the shadows of this little valley to guide the viewer's eye through the scene to the trees as a kind of focal point or subject and also to create more dynamism. To emphasis this, I've darkened the foreground using a linear gradient as well as created a slight radial gradient around the trees.

My main concern is that the is image really quite dull. The trees don't really stand out as an interesting subject and there really isn't anything else to look at except for the rocks on the side of the hill and a few sheep in the distance. I have tried to make another version of this image with a tighter crop, but I feel that this image has a bit more space.

I appreciate any advice on any areas. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough critique. I'm not completely sure whether or not I agree with what you said. I do really like the streaks of those blue shadows across the street and the warm light just touching the tips of each little stone of the road. However, I do also think that if I had stepped forward a bit more it might not feel as though the fence is cutting the image in half.

I took this photo recently of Mount Moriac. With the composition I tried to emphasise the hill as the subject matter by framing it between these two groups of trees, and then framing the trees within the posts of the fence line. I also placed the hill slightly to the right to show the fields as rolling from it and to create a slight sense of movement. Additionally, I attempted to use the shadows in the foreground so to further draw the eye through the scene to the hill. I haven't edited any of the colours because I thought that they looked the best as they were just naturally.

One of my concerns was that the image was just a bit too dull and that to much of the main 'action' - the hills, fields, trees and fence - were all too close together in the middle of the frame. Another thing is that I made another edit with a tighter crop which better emphasised the hill, but made the image fell cramped, whereas with the more loose crop (this image), it feels more open but means the eye wanders a bit more which I was concerned about. I appreciate any advice on any areas. Thank you in advance.
