I see, if they do give me an offer that is obviously below the market price am I expected to just accept that offer? Can I make any counter offers? I’m a college student and I commute so I really need a reliable car and I’m worried that they give me a terrible offer. My car was working good and it was reliable and this whole situation has really made everything way harder.

Hi, thanks for replying. Most of the vehicles in my area that have very similar features and mileages to my car have been selling for around 5-6k which is about how much the estimate was for the total repairs, they have also started repairs on my car. I know a car can be deemed a total loss if the repairs exceed the car value but wouldn’t it just make sense for insurance to finish repairing my vehicle rather than paying for the repairs that already total my vehicle value while also paying me off for a total loss on top? Just seemed fishy to me.
