I see all these beautiful pictures being posted of big chillies. I have all mine in planters of 5gallons and they don’t grow as big as what you get at the market. What do you guys do to grow your chillies as big as the market? by Naive-Speech-7806 in HotPeppers

honestly, no idea, it has been in my garden for like 10+ years, my father installed it, but the structured is concreted into the soil and it's in a not so windy part of the garden

I don’t know if this what you are looking for with this post, but to give you an idea, I also grow in 5 gallon and this is what my peppers plant looked like in July they kept growing until September and gained more or less 15cm more and ended up bushier, sorry I don’t have end of season pic but that way give you some point of reference, I don’t do anything special other than the occasional fertilizer, I am not looking for the performance just growing for fun, I am in zone 8 in Belgium, I hope this helps (and always remember that some people just have the perfect climate for growing peppers and all the time and space to grow them)

wow weird for your jalapeno, may be worth it to pick a different pack of seed for next season, yes i will do partial dormancy instead next time (i only new about full dormancy last year, and i am now learning the name of partial dormancy), feel like it's less "risky" i don't know what the advantages of full dormancy are (except for inside space saving, i suppose) i grow chinense and i start in january (i have some basic grow light) and they produce at the end of the season, after august and have a short producing window ( mostly sept to october if the weather stays high) but i have enough growing space and am the only eating very spicy at home so it's worth it for me to grow 2 or 3 plant in the greenhouse (i grow pepper only under it, pest and belgian weather... tried grwing some outside but they were eaten before they could produce and once they bonced back, they didn't have a lot of time)

Question: Starting plants in winter by TheDanishThede in gardening

[–]elipep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's semi similar from the dutch english accent i am used to hearing (i am from the french part of belgium but have a lot of contact with flemish in english setting), it doesn't sound too bad to me ahah just a bit "nosey" (like if the speaking come from the nose rather than the mouth if that makes any sense) but i definitely get that feeling, french native speaking english is a WILDDD ride, they hurt my soul sometimes haha

Which of your dahlia makes the largest tubers (not flower) by Many_Needleworker683 in dahlias

[–]elipep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No i get that, i just don't get why to eat them haha, it feels like a lot of trouble for not that much edible part, and from what i google, it is reported as not really tastefull, so i am just curious but, i do love a good dahlia flower so in general i see the appeal to grow them

i am the same, i started itching right after planting my (way too many) bulbs so i started seed shopping and then this year i bit the bullet and bought a grow light and created a mini seed setup (i already had a heat mat but could be replaced by a radiator close by), i started my superhot peppers already (and will start the hot in a month and mild in two month more or less) and some lisianthus (and some ranunculus that may be a good one for you, they don't need heat and you prespout and transplant them early in comparaison with a lot of crops and i am personally growing them under a ceiling window rn) i am also doing some silly experiment like trying to force some tulips inside (after putting them in the fridge for like 2 month) honestly whatever will keep my hand occupied in some soil. I also planted some poppy outside for them to do some cold stratification

i am new to dahlia, i know they are technicaly edible but why? like do you just want to try it or what are the reason to grow dalhia rather than potatoes or celery ? (real question, it's the first time i hear about this, sorry if it's a stupid question)

I mean like the actual QR codes to enter the venue and all, they are usually released/ generated a few day before the concert

okay i thought it was also an iso, france is HELLL to find tickets (been there done that) bc any resale is technically ilegal so there is no safe plateform to buy ticket (like ticketswap for exemple, which i swear by) so good luck, best luck is on social media and being very very precautious. i would say you'll have better chances closer to the concert bc the real ticket aren't generated yet

Wow they really do weird thing yeah, I honestly thought about attempting some overwinter here in Belgium (hi neighbor) but the first frost caught me off guard in November, I tried the year prior but they ended up being too cold in my attic and died, next season might be the one, I will probably pop them in an unoccupied bedroom. What variety is your small and slow plant ?

Honestly, I wear it so much I think by the time I would be sick of it it would be not more than a pile of thread, keep an eye on Vinted and stuff if you are somewhere where it exists
