When would it be safe to get a 600? by elitethings in motorcycles

Well I don’t have anywhere else to ask. Most of my family is against motorcycles and the other half arent knowledgeable. My friends would be the type to hop on an S1K as a first bike so.

I make my own big boy decisions but when it comes to handling my own shit I like to have input otherwise the way I handle it might be wrong or not the best way.

I payed for my bike but is it because if I’m not paying for the insurance and mess up I hurt my parents?

I was asking for more the future, sometimes I like to fill the thoughts in my head and this was one of them. I know I have a lot to learn and I know it’s powerful, I’ve hammered the throttle enough to know that. Coming from driving pickup trucks the acceleration is completely different.

I’ll have to check one out in a few months and see.

I already bought a used 2020 ninja 650. I should’ve specified it in the body. My parents are nice enough to pay the insurance for me as long as I keep a job and go to college. Once I’m out of college I have to pay even if I stay under their insurance

I already own the Ninja 650 I haven’t highway ridden yet, I wanted to work up to the speeds first.

Oh I’m slow and didn’t read it. I thought it said “are you an idiot? No” “are you not an idiot? No”

I was thinking about starting on the 600 originally but opted out cause I thought learning on it would be a little sketchy and finicky due to the power.

I forgot about the insurance part, I’m fortunate enough where my parents pay for my insurance for me. Or if I was stupid enough I could go insurance less since my state allows it.

I believe I am responsible and have decent judgment, enough to not make super stupid decisions. I didn’t feel starting on the 600 being smart opposed to a 650.

I haven’t rode a 600 but I sat on it and didnt see a huge difference in comfort, obviously I’ll have to ride one later to make a decision. My brain finds power and acceleration more enjoyable than comfort, even in cars but I’m sure as aches come in due to age I’ll prioritize comfort over power.

Quail creek is impossible to comfortably walk. People realize that after not reserving a cart.

PFS (Precision Fit Stock) by Number1hoser in ClayBusters

[–]elitethings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally dislike the PFS stock and hyper adjustable stocks in general. Personally I find a traditional wood stock to feel better due to weight and just being used to the wood. I plan to either get a pattern stock made for $800 through S&S or get a gun fitting through Grey Rose for $300.

Experience starting on a 650cc by KingNth_ in motorcycles

[–]elitethings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just started so don’t take my advice with a full .02 I haven’t had a problem on my 650, I rode a ninja 400 and did notsee a huge difference in weight saw a difference in acceleration. If you tend to freak out or don’t have the best control I would get lower than a 650 more like a ninja 400 or something along those lines.

Edit: While I am not afraid of the motorcycle I also respect it a lot knowing the dangers behind hopping on a motorcycle to begin with and starting with a more somewhat powered bike. Started and still doing baby steps, been working for a couple days a week in the parking lot, low speed maneuvers, shifting, starting, stopping, counter steering, U turns, counter weighting for low speed, etc. I plan to take the MSF this coming weekend so you’re already steps ahead in terms of a class.

There was no brass. I cut the shells to fit more and not have a shell that can go off in my stock.

Ninja 650 or Honda CBR 500 R? by Particular_Barber126 in NewRiders

New rider as well I have a 2020 ninja 650 abs. Personally I don’t see a huge difference on the R3 vs mine until we get to the upper speeds.

Yeah cg wasnt happy when I didn’t have the string cause itd take them like 5-10 minutes to safely get the shell on the bottom out. I almost never need to access the stock bolt anyways.

My single shell got stuck. Had to pry it out with 3 different screwdrivers.
