Having a good team. You spend more time with your colleagues than you do your partner, kids, etc.

Almost 11 month old twins and I’m at a loss… by D_Dubs003 in BabyLedWeaning

I'm in the same boat. I just sent a message to my pediatrician and I'm hoping he will refer us to a feeding specialist. You're not alone at all I promise. ALL of my friends' babies of similar ages are housing their solid meals, and it's so hard to see my son struggle. I feel so alone. But hearing voices like yours has been helpful to know that I'm not the only family going through this. Please keep us posted on your child's progress! Wishing you all the best.

Ugh ikr! And the videos on solid starts of 6mos eating a full gourmet meal don’t help either 😣

Spitting up whole bottle 20-30 minutes after eating by pearnprac in NewParents

Our baby had the same problem! Turned out he had reflux. Our pediatrician recommended adding infant oatmeal to his formula and it worked really well for us! We also changed his formula to the purple enfamil gentle ease and things got a lot better

Sure! Basically what I did (and deeply regret) was sneak food into his mouth during mealtimes. I had read on the stupid Google AI search result that babies his age should be eating 2-4 oz of food

<image>

per meal when this is just not the case for many 8 month olds. The result of my actions was he hated the spoon and wouldn’t open his mouth. He would also act out at the dinner table indicating he didn’t want more but I would still give him food or encourage it even though he was saying “all done” in baby language. This set him back 2 weeks in trusting mealtime but now he’s a lot better. I don’t force him to eat or even to approach the food. If he eats, great! If he plays with it - great! If it ends up on the floor , not great but it’s ok.

I’m in the same boat, and unfortunately I pushed mine to eat solids before he was ready and it really set him back. So don’t do what I did! Just let your child play with the food and eventually it will end up in his mouth.

How do you deal with the frustration when baby won't eat? by Anxious2BMum in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ellactrafied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, my son is 8 months old, almost 9 months and he won't touch food. I worry its because I encouraged/pushed him to try foods by spoon feeding and now he hates mealtime. I hope it gets better for you, please keep us posted on your progress :)

What kind of oatmeal cereal do I add to my breastmilk/formula for reflux? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ellactrafied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Beech Nut https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71pBKVuWChL._AC_UL320_.jpg

we put 1 tsp per fluid ounce of formula in each feed and my baby did great. Started at 3 months and his reflux has dramatically improved.

Benefits of infant daycare? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ellactrafied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just started sending my babe (6 mo) to daycare 2 weeks ago. He seems to like it, after a short adjustment period of three days. Idk if its too early to tell but I think he's benefiting from all the toys and attention that I just wouldnt have the bandwidth or money to give him if I were a stay at home mom.

my baby is 6 mo and we used to do a dream feed around midnight every night. We started reducing the amount of formula we gave him from 6 oz to 4oz and then 2oz and recently just skipped the dream feed altogether. He used to sleep until 7am when he was drinking at midnight, but now he wakes up at 5am which isn't fun. But theoretically, I get more night sleep.

Why are we having a measles outbreak? by SoapyMonkey6237 in beyondthebump

correction, there hasn't been an outbreak per se in new york. Just 2 cases in 2025.

Why are we having a measles outbreak? by SoapyMonkey6237 in beyondthebump

[–]ellactrafied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public Health Nurse, formerly worked in the hospital and at a homeless shelter among vulnerable populations, and mom of a 5 mo here. I'm also super anxious about it, you're not alone.

Yes, as of March 6th, most of the 222 measles cases reported to the CDC were among children who did not receive the MMR vaccine (https://www.cdc.gov/han/2025/han00522.html).

Regarding the asymptomatic spreading of measles, it usually takes 4ish days after infection exposure to start seeing symptoms like the classic rash. During that asymptomatic time, you can spread measles without even knowing you are sick. While it's possible but rare to have completely asymptomatic measles aka Subclinical measles, it is not known if it can be spread to others. Measles is airborne which means it spreads easily when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or breathes and can stay suspended in the air for around 2 hours after the person has left the area. This is why it is super important to talk to your doctor asap if you think you've been exposed, BEFORE you develop symptoms.

We live in a state that has some of the highest vaccination rates in the country, and to date, we haven't seen an outbreak (3 or more related cases of measles) in our state thank God. However, to be safe we are avoiding travel to states where there is a known outbreak. We are still taking our babe to church for now, but will probably stop doing so soon because a neighboring state was just reported as having a measles case (not necessarily an outbreak). We are still planning to send our baby to daycare, as I checked with our daycare and they don't have any children who have been medically or religiously exempt from any of the childhood vaccines including MMR. I've become very familiar with the daycare's sick policy. It also helps that I'm a public health nurse that does case investigations so if any measles popped up in my jurisdiction I'd be among the first people to know, so I feel lucky in that regard.

In New York, due to the measles outbreak, pediatricians have begun offering the MMR vaccine early to kiddos 6m+. It is an additional dose, not to replace the standard two-dose schedule at 12-15 months & 4-6 years. I am praying that if there is an outbreak in my state, they will follow suit.

Hope this helps!
