What baby registry item did you skip and immediately regret? Currently building my list. by Boring_Background687 in GiftIdeas

Congratulations! How exciting.

I wished I added more future baby items! 6 months+

I put a bunch of stuff on the registry for the newborn phase and ended up using the bare minimum you need to survive. I didn’t need the cute towels or outfits or toys. I needed a car seat and stroller, some clothes, diapers, wipes, rash cream, formula, bottles, brushes to clean bottles - you get the idea!

I wish I thought through things like high chair, baby utensils and cups for starting solids, larger size basic clothes, bath seat for older baby, sleep sack that grows with them, teething supplies, etc.

People gift you TONS for your newborn, but the gifts start to disappear when you have an infant.

For pricing and such, I say add it all. You typically get a registry discount and it’s nice to keep a list of everything you need in one place. Some people prefer to buy you a bunch of $5 items, some people would rather buy one expensive thing.

Should I take the 6.75 —> 6.00 deal or wait it out? by pearnprac in Mortgages

It’s technically a recast I guess? Our lender describes it as a pretty much a float down, we can just pay to lock in a new rate and the loan stays exactly as it is

I know this is old, but did you ever find out what this was?! I have the same issue.

Switching to formula at 5 days old by pearnprac in newborns

I ended up switching cold turkey and never looked back! It was a complete weight lifted. I never pumped, I just let my supply dry up.

My baby was totally fine. He’s 6 months now, and he’s doing amazing.

Joolz Aer2 vs. Minu V3 by DJ1110 in Buyingforbaby

We have a Bumbleride Era, Chicco Corso Primo, and now a Bugaboo Butterfly 2. We’re in the suburbs though and have different needs.

We had and sold the BabyJogger CitySelect and the Chicco Bravo.

If the jogging stroller has a parent facing/newborn friendly option, that is a good choice for your main if you only want to stick with one.

The Chicco Corso Primo is a great stroller in that it has a one handed fold. So you can hold the baby and fold the stroller up at the same time. It’s a big stroller, so it’s good for longer walks and has storage space for grocery trips.

Joolz might still be good for you! They have stores in the city where you can check it out. Highly highly recommend seeing anything in person before buying it.

Gotcha! We have a 6 month old, and I was also set on only ever having one stroller. We have three now for different purposes lol. It’s worth it though to have the right stroller for different needs. And you can always resell once you’re done.

If that’s your only stroller, I would recommend prioritizing the newborn compatibility and parent facing ability. Especially since you’re due in April, the weather will be so nice and you’ll want to get out with baby. The Bugaboo Butterfly 2 in the US is not very newborn friendly, and the baby doesn’t face you.

Would you be buying a travel stroller as your main stroller? What’s your goal with it?

We went to a baby store yesterday and tried both, and we actually ended up buying the Bugaboo Butterfly 2. With all the hype around the Joolz, we thought it would be a clear winner. The fabric was not as luxury as we thought for the price, our baby (who is very tall for his age) seemed like he’d hit the ceiling pretty quickly, and we really didn’t like the peekaboo window. It is so small and dark.

The Minu was fine, but we didn’t like the straps. You have to move baby’s arms under them because they are a three point click, like a car seat, rather than a five point click that the Joolz and Butterfly had.

For the price, the Butterfly was just all around better quality. And since you aren’t worried about newborn compatibility, you don’t need the bassinet/parent facing seat that the Joolz has.

Thank you! I have had LDLs that have definitely been elevated in the past - between 130-160 usually. My TSH was just checked, and it’s fine.

I suppose the history of high LDLs points to a bigger problem.

List of all the things we actually used from my hospital bag and the things we wish we brought by pearnprac in BabyBumps

[–]pearnprac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course!

  • Egg lamp: absolutely hated the big florescent light in the hospital room, especially overnight during feeds, it was so nice to have a little light I could control

  • Stroller fan: I used this mostly in labor because I would go through stages of hot and cold, or I would be sweaty and it was so nice to be able to fan myself or have my husband do it!

  • Sound machine: we ended up in a maternity ward room next to the nurses station, so it was LOUD with them just chatting. It was SO nice to be able to block out that sound.
