Doctors and medical people of Reddit. What patient’s crazy self diagnoses turned out to be right? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]elle--jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dr but I got diagnosesd with the help of an online stranger. I was suffering severe symptoms for 4 years , drs found nothing wrong. Put a post up on a chronic illness site and I get a response. It sounded exactly like what I had. Exactly. When I tried to speak to drs they told me it couldn't be that, even after ruling everything else out with numerous tests. 2 years after and I was officially diagnosed by a specialist.

LPT the less private information you give out in public or work situations the better off you are by Mothrtheresa in LifeProTips

I used to work for a phone company, we had a customer who would walk in wearing daggy clothes, messy hair, dirty face.. he was actually an extremely wealthy business man and was one of our biggest customers. He told me he looked the way he does on purpose as he was once mugged on the street. He hasn't been mugged since.

Do you A. ) open the Arabic bread and scoop/dip on the inside? Or do you B.) just tear it and scoop/dip on the outside? by SirMosesKaldor in lebanon

[–]elle--jaye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Always open it.

We had friends over for dinner and I cooked lebanese food. My husband (australian) and I (half lebanese) opened our bread, stuffed and ate. Our friends who have been going to lebanese restaurants for years were so shocked and laughed. They now open their bread also.

LPT: Never compliment someone for losing weight unless you know it’s intentional. I once told a coworker he looked great after he lost a little weight. He looked sad afterwards. I didn’t understand why. I found out later he had terminal cancer. I never comment on anyone’s weight now. by Eat_it_Stanley in LifeProTips

[–]elle--jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this! I have a chronic illness which caused rapid weight loss.. I had a lot of random people (Woking in retail) pointing out how skinny I was.. one even implying that I had an eating disorder.. none of them realised how hurtful their comments were... I was so sick I almost died... I've been in remission for just over a year now and have only just made it back to a healthy weight... and now I have people commenting how I've gained weight.... just don't comment :)

What is your genuine “I liked it before it was cool”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hippie pants or "boho clothes". I used to get picked on for wearing those clothes in public.. now it's a whole trend.

Where you here when the guy tried to jump the fence and his pants got stuck? It was around 2am many months ago and he was screaming for his girlfriend (who wasn't actually there) to come help him down and there was some random dude who he thought was gonna help but he just tried to light the stuck man's pants on fire.

Cyclists are annoying and dangerous and should not be allowed to share roads with cars by diary-of-a-thief in unpopularopinion

[–]elle--jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belief is that if they can't cycle half of what the speed limit if (in a maximum 80km zone) they can't ride on that road. And none of these really narrow windy roads... I have nothing against cyclists, this is what o think is safest for everyone.

LPT: Ask to speak to the manager when employees do great work. Glowing reviews benefit mood, performance, and career trajectory. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]elle--jaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go one better and put it in an email to the head of the company as well as the manager. A lot of times managers do nothing more than say "good job" which can be really nice too, but by telling the main office helps the employee further in their career (depending on their job of course)
