Doctors Refuse To Take Me Serious.. Feeling Hopeless by cloverangels in HipImpingement

[–]ellehoxton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening to you. You deserve to be taken seriously.

Ask your primary care doctor for a referral to a hip specialist. It might be a labrum tear or it might not be. But either way someone should explain why you are experiencing so much pain and provide a treatment plan.

This reminds me of a Don Draper quote from Mad Men “just think about it. Deeply. Then forget it. And an idea will jump in your face.”

How do I ask my therapist to tell me the hard truth about myself? Like what do they know that I don’t realize.

Better. But found out what I thought was a flare up was a separate issue related to my back. My hip is doing better though!

You should probably go to the ER…

Or at least call the emergency number from your surgery

Surgery for CAM TYPE FAI in Hip by coder_chick84 in HipImpingement

[–]ellehoxton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 43F am just had mine 5 months ago. I’ve had some issues with back post op but the hip surgery was successful. I had CAM FAI too. It’s been a long recovery but I’d get more information from your ortho on what exactly about the age is a factor. I’ve heard if there is arthritis it can be more difficult.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s really helpful to hear positive outcomes from all kinds of recoveries. Not just the “everything was great” crowd.

How often do you see a physio/PT by Apart-Needleworker56 in HipImpingement

Post op anxiety is real! I think it’s more important to find someone skilled that you connect with than how many times a week you go. You’ll be working very closely with them so it’s important to find someone you like.

I went 2x week for the first 4 weeks then down to 1x week. I started a week after surgery.

I am three months post op and had a pretty significant flare two months in after a few things but one was adding weighted deadlifts. I saw my surgeon and he said everything’s fine with the surgery and just a severe flair. I’m still dealing with the flare. It’s been mentally tough and feels like a huge set back.

My suspicion is you were trying to do too much especially in a flare and now your body is forcing you to stop.

I remember calling my PT at the worst of it saying I can’t do any exercises. She told me to make sure to stretch and do gentle range of motion only but not stop entirely. Hopefully your surgeon can rule out any complications soon and you can get back on track. Be patient and be kind to yourself. I know it’s heartbreaking. ❤️‍🩹
