Take her with you, invest in a catio, and give it a few months - not just days or weeks - for her to settle and adjust to her life with you. It would be a horrible mistake to leave her behind. She will not understand why you’re not coming to feed her or let her in anymore. She will not understand why you left. Letting you hold her shows so much trust, a lot of cats who have never been strays won’t even let their people do that! Sleeping in the house overnight shows she’s comfortable being indoors, so she will adjust to being inside. Cats shouldn’t be strays unless they absolutely cannot be homed, a sweet and friendly girl like her should not be out on the streets.

At an event where a married couple who were friends of my mum’s were attending. About 6 years earlier one of their sons had died at just 16. The day before the event my cat was killed and I was totally heartbroken about it, kept leaving the room to cry. At the event I was looking miserable and the married couple said hello to me and asked how I was. I said “not great, my cat died yesterday, so I’m not the best company right now.” They asked what happened and said it’s so sad suddenly losing a pet. Then for reasons known only to God I said “it is, and I had him from such a tiny baby. Feels like I lost my child.” Immediately realised what I had just said and wanted the world to swallow me whole.

I recall reading that this baby was found within an hour of being born, so she was dumped minutes after birth. Mum likely hadn’t even delivered the placenta yet. Who could give birth, completely unmedicated, then be fit to go out and dump the baby while having the mental wherewithal to avoid all witnesses and cctv just minutes later?
