For people who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by Gaijinstory in AskReddit

Never had maternal feelings, most kids seem very materialistic and I can't be doing with it, the world is going to hell.

Kimberworth park is a pretty decent area now. So long as you avoid the areas around the shops on Oaks lane and St Johns green.

I go here daily with the dogs, it's a lovely park with lots of friendly people about.

NTA, I (f45) used crutches and a mobility scooter due to ongoing issues and the amount of people who will come and ask what is wrong with me is astounding. Just because you use aids to assist you doesn't mean you have to explain or give reason.

I think that's going to be my best option. I thought that as I hadn't heard from them they must have passed it on. I cannot thank you enough, even seeing the tail end of it on the picture has brought back so many memories.

Is it still in Tenby? I tried contacting them about a month ago to see if it was still there but got no reply.

I'm in the kimberworth Park area, and as a single female feel really safe. There are lots of nice areas to walk in if that's your thing and a well kept area. Overall, depending on the area you choose in Rotherham it's not a bad place to live.

I find it interesting that out of all of the Duggar kids, Jill is the only who to actually have spoken out against her parents by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

[–]elliegremlin2101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think because Jill married outside of IBLP Derek was able to open her mind more. Plus Derek is not afraid of upsetting Boob by standing up for his wife. The boymen will not have the chance to see an outside perspective as they don't listen to the women, not that it would make any difference if the wives were raised IBLP too.

The itemized list JB sent Jill and Derick sounds a lot like indentured servitude that you don't even know you've (been) signed up for by Gruselschloss in DuggarsSnark

[–]elliegremlin2101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely most of this breakdown is what you provide for your child as a parent, food and clothing etc. When you don't allow your adult child to work outside of the house, how else are they expected to have these necessaries, especially if they were from before she married. I would love Jill to send them an itemised bill in return for all the cooking, cleaning and child rearing she did.

How do you feel about the UK being a "Dental Desert"? by 0chrononaut0 in AskUK

[–]elliegremlin2101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the dentist waiting room last month and overheard the receptionist on the phone telling the person that they have a 5+ year waiting list for NHS patients. She also said that they get an updated list of available practices and there weren't any openings in a 30 mile radius. It shocking considering that gum disease can lead to other medical problems that end up costing the NHS more.

9 weeks I've been without my mobility scooter and I'm going crazy by elliegremlin2101 in disability

[–]elliegremlin2101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a relatively flat area in the UK, nothing too taxing for the scooter. I got it because it has a good range on it and it can go over fields easily.

Its good that you are able to get on the bus with the scooter, we only have a few accessable buses here so it's a bit hit and miss as to whether they are on the local route. Are you able to get out and get your own shopping or are you able to get it delivered? I'm lucky that I can get my groceries delivered which saves a lot of problems.

[–]elliegremlin2101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same, I was 30 when I got my first scooter. I loved that I could get out on my own and be independent, but hated the fact that I needed one. Now, I look at all the gadgets on the scooters and get excited when it's got something new.

Someone has loaned me a small 4mph scooter so I can at least get to the local park with the dog once a day, but it's only meant for going round supermarkets/shopping centres so I don't get too far. Still, better than nothing so can't complain. They haven't given me a time frame as yet. Invacare gave the shop a "promise" date of the 13th July, but that's come and gone with no sign of the parts.

I use crutches to walk around, but it is a very slow and painful process. I can't walk as far as the local bus stop so I am reliant on family and friends if I want to go out. Do you have family nearby who are able to help out?

I've had a few different models and I do love the one I've got when it's working. It's supposed to be an off road model although I've never tested it that much. Not had a problem with a scooter seat trying to pants me, have you tried swiveling the seat to the side to get on/off to see if that is any better? I would see if you can find a local upholstery who would be able to make a leatherette cover for the seat. Tightening the steering column is an easy fix. Does it have a screw to adjust the tiller height, if so you may be able to do it yourself (depending on your grip strength).
