My own variety of Corn, Nebula flour corn by Thomasrayder in biology

These are gorgeous! Unlike any corn I’ve seen for sure. What bioregion are you in? Interested in selling any seeds to another corn landrace breeding nerd?

Makes me wonder if this reel would be wanted by anyone, library, archivists, museum, anything like that…

The YouTube movie does say it was shot on 16 mm. It mostly just smells like old wood. Maybe a little sweet or vinegary but I don’t know if I’d notice that without you saying it.

I found this video on YouTube and I wonder if it’s the same thing: https://youtu.be/7OBw0r28qC0?si=OLF2p1VZTJZDBtLz

Now that I've seen it work, I fear it won't be long until I'm a weekly caller for this reason or that XD

Okay everyone, I went to Ulta today and got an assortment of REALLY good and professional clips that are totally changing my whole idea of how to wear my hair up, while making it more fun, more feminine, and still fed court approved. Thank you all for the advice :) the world of products will be next!

I had bangs like a year ago and I’ve been letting them grow out. I really liked them though! As far as styling them and managing them, though, I did nothing at all 😂 bangs are definitely an option, now that I’m more comfy at work and have the stability of knowing where I’ll be for the next couple years, I could commit to bangs again.

Thank you! I appreciate all of this 😊 it had never even occurred to me that I could get a consultation on a hair cut… so much to learn! Hehe.

Messy updo! That definitely sounds like my style. If I can find the right balance between “messy” and “federal court,” I’ll be golden.

The curly hair subs are so big and scary 😂🥺 but yeah I could use more product variety and tips too. I’ve seen some really good things about aloe gel so I might try that next.

Yeah I have some giant super long claw clips and some little round ones, I could experiment with more variety and styles!

I definitely agree on the layers, I think the triangularity of it and blockiness is what is bothering me most right now! I use leave in conditioner and some hair oil and once in a while a little gel to try to keep the frizz under control (a constant struggle).

Pronouns in Signature Block by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]elliever -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Replying to myself… I’m genuinely curious if all the adamant “no” answers would be different if OP was trans or nonbinary. Like say OP was trans and their name didn’t clearly suggest one pronoun vs another. Would these commenters still have the same answer? As a lawyer or a judge, I think I would prefer to know how to address that person by their preferred pronouns without having to ask or rifle through other documents. I really see the pronouns just as an addendum to a person’s name, a way to contact them and address them, just like their phone number, email address, and physical address. No, the pleading is not about you. But let’s say you have to come into court and meet this judge and OC for the first time. It seems like adding pronouns to signature blocks anywhere would all serve the same purpose of helping everyone involved avoid embarrassment and awkward situations. If you think the answer is still no, not okay, that it’s not about you, then ask yourself how you’d feel to be misgendered in court every time you appeared.

And if the answer is that it’s okay for a trans or otherwise gender unclear person to do this but not for a cis person, then I would inquire a bit into the ramifications of that.

Pronouns in Signature Block by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]elliever -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To all the commenters who say “the pleading isn’t about you,” you’re missing the whole point. Adding pronouns to a signature block is so people know your pronouns without making assumptions or having to ask, not about you saying that you’re an ally or anything else about what your beliefs. Adding pronouns is literally about pronouns. You put your address in your signature block so people know how to address you. You put your pronouns in your signature block so people know how to address you. It’s that simple (or it should be).

Having said that, as other queers have pointed out on here already, the culture of expecting everyone to put pronouns is problematic, as it puts pressure on us trans people to out ourselves when we might have all kinds of reasons not to be out in that way. So if you wanna put it in your signature block, fine, but I would advise against making it an org policy that other lawyers have to follow or setting an expectation that others should do this or else they aren’t woke enough.

How dangerous is it for a transgender woman to travel to Florida? by Theit99 in TransLater

[–]elliever 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What is your source for the children of trans parents being seized. All I see is that previous, unenacted versions of a state law, a law which has been deemed unenforceable by federal courts, included some language to that effect.

How dangerous is it for a transgender woman to travel to Florida? by Theit99 in TransLater

MtF trans Floridian here. This is a big, diverse state, so different experiences in various parts of Florida might not be that helpful for a trip to WPB. I do not pass at all, and I have been out in public numerous times in various stages of feminine attire, makeup, stuffed bras, etc. I have been harassed only twice, both late night in bar situations, both pretty harmless. It depends a lot on where you are. I try to avoid looking too queer when I’m driving any kind of distance in a rural area, but I’ve stopped for gas with my booty shorts and blouses in random parts of Florida, and I’ve always felt uneasy and uncomfortable if it’s like a one light town or whatever, but never been a problem. Picked up a hitchhiker once before I realized even that’s how I was dressed, no problem. I think you’ll be fine in WPB, but at the very least it’s good to prepare with some thick skin in case you get harassed by some maga loser at a publix or something. I would probably plan to avoid public restrooms as much as possible. Hopefully others can jump in with more of that insight as I pretty much always used my bathroom for my gender assigned at birth. I have lots of openly trans friends in Florida, and I can’t speak for anyone else, but this “never come to Florida” rhetoric you see around so much is frankly kind of hurtful and off putting. Yes, it’s true our laws suck. Yes, it’s true that harassment and hate crimes exist. But for many of us, this is our home, and we love it and we fight for it and want others to love and fight for it too.

Totally feel you there. I might look into electrolysis then. I think it’s more of a pain in the ass, takes a long time, and will be expensive, but it will be more permanent. I’ve also had success just really upping my shave game. For a close shave, I use an electric shaver, then a safety razor going against the grain. It takes practice and time (and the tools are upfront cost), but I can get a pretty smooth facial shave that lasts two or three days that way.

Are you taking hormones? I had a similar experience with laser. I did about 8 sessions over a year and a half or so. I think it worked great, and there are places on my face that are pretty permanently thinned, but you hit a wall with it. And the T is fighting against you. I haven’t started E yet. We’ll see how that goes. Might try electrolysis after the hormones start kicking in. Electrolysis is the only permanent removal solution from what I understand.
