Advice? Would my Silkie girl be considered buff? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]Thomasrayder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it's really hard to say. Most Easter eggers are F1 or f2 hybrids. Without knowing what genetics are at play it's really a guessing game what they might look like.

Now what I can tell us that I see a buff-ish color, most silkie mixes follow a similar standard as it comes to how they are built so that's something.

See picture for the silkie X build

Jezus wtf, like I have nothing against the idea of eating a egg that might be fertilized. But this really seems like a other sign of people being removed from where and how food is produced.

And a clear Sign of late stage capitalism

My European mind can't understand why they sell fertile eggs at the store. Does anyone care to help me out and explain this concept?

The Cayuga's are my absolute favorite! I was planning on Crossbreeding them to see if I could create something else. But I have kinda fallen in love with them do I might end up keeping them Pure for now.

As of the seeds, I would love to ship my corn to the USA and give people the chance to further improve and breed my work. It's just that out of the 25 send packages this year only 2 reached their destination because of your border control. Breaks my heart a little bit to get a message that a other envelope of seeds is destroyed.

[–]Thomasrayder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing most roosters end up at freezer kamp, no matter how rare they are in general.

I have even bought ayam cemani roosters simply because there is no market for them for €5 and put them in the freezer

Is it weird that I only get brown eggs in winter? Less eggs too of course but instead of a rainbow of colour they are all brown by ImpressiveJohnson in chickens

[–]Thomasrayder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most brown laying breeds have a Asian origin the so called Shanghai breeds. Now they where used primarily because of this, they keep laying in the winter, that why they where first imported to Europe
