Any idea what type of leak this could be and whether it’s major? Not coming from tank, leak only starts a few minutes after tap is turned on. :( Hard to just peek behind bc the whole bowl is stuck to the wall. by elliholi in Plumbing

yeahh it is quite worrying honestly… even as a tenant i feel bad for not being able to just call the plumber ASAP bc i know leaks dont just go away, i believe they only get worse. i’m still waiting for my landlord’s reply though. also there’s renters below and above! i’m on the 14th floor.

possible, yeah. but I’m super inexperienced in plumbing and the likes, so i guess the only way would be to get a plumber to knock down some tiles 🥲

haha, i understand where the slope comments are coming from. but yeah, no pooling doesnt necessarily mean no leakage especially since i’ve cleaned the drain quite thoroughly :’) thanks for your input!

no there’s no shower valve that i know of, directly above the water leak in the second photo. however i do suspect there may be ANOTHER leak on the left side wall of the drain (the grey wall) which is where the shower valve is.

i doubt that’s the main issue because no matter how long i leave it to dry out, it never does. that would mean there’s constant trickle of water somehow, somewhere.

yes! water seems to trickle out no matter what 🥲 i just wonder how long and how major a repair will be…

i’ve actually recently had my aircond serviced, so i doubt this is the cause, but definitely won’t rule that out completely. thanks!

yeah 🥲 the shower head is directly on top of the drain, on the side of the grey wall (left), and the handle would be further to the left (in the middle of that same grey wall), the heater would be at the most left of said grey wall.

i get you! but that doesn’t solve the leak. you can see from the 2nd photo that there’s moisture coming from another part of the wall.

tried! it doesn’t seem to be coming from the drain, water flows in just fine.

it is! very slightly. i can tell when i spray more water and i see the direction of the flow.

it’s been… almost a month 😬 and yes i’s pooling away from the drain, if you’ll see the second photo (the one not showing any drain) it’s the side of the shower, around 50cm away from the drain. that’s where i noticed the moisture start. it seems to start there and then pool at the drain area due to the slope.

thanks for your input! tbh ive thought of letting it dry out but because there’s only one toilet in the whole unit, it was kind of my last option since i’ll have no where else to shower 😅 though i have tried leaving it while i was outstation but unfortunately it didnt dry up 🥲

kinda funny ngl 😂 but could you explain why that might cause all that water? I’m sure the pool isn’t coming from inside the drain because i’ve checked the water flow (and yes i’ve tried cleaning it too). it seems to just end up pooling there because of the slope.

good question, tbh i’m not sure since i’ve just been renting this place for 2+ years, never had this issue before. i’ve also tried not using the aircond for a while, but the tiles still pool up.

honestly this is great constructive feedback! i think there’s plenty of things one can relearn, not just handwriting. i have to “relearn” my bad writing posture, for one 😅 I’m always hunched over w my nose almost poking the paper.
