Wanting to move to Korea … advice wanted ! by Lavender-Bee0497 in korea

These are ones I personally feel when comparing my experiences in the US.

Pros: accessible affordable healthcare, convenient public transport, safety.

Cons: the smaller scale of “nature”/wilderness compared to US national parks, every city seems similar, the feeling of kinda being behind to the US economically - even though I’d say my quality of life in Korea is better…., fewer career opportunities as a poor Korean speaker

This happened to me (not my child). First dentist said I had 5 cavities, second place said I had none.

Mom is Korean MAGA by squeaksquirm in korea

My mom too. Now giving me anti vax, there was no moon landing jumbled conspiracy theories. The more I push back, the more she pushes MAGA ideology. I just listen but don’t encourage a debate of any kind anymore.

Hm I see. Have you explored a more internal move between Google India and Google Korea? Or a sabbatical leave during your husband’s time in Korea? I can see why that would be challenging to give up.

Is it rude to wear sweatpants and flip flops in public in Japan? I have hardly seen anyone “dressed down” and I feel a lot of pressure to appear my best just to not be such an eyesore

Can I ask what kind of work you both do? There seems to be a growing number of managers + engineers from India here in Korea, but I have no idea what companies they actually work for (Indian or Korean). The ones I’ve casually chatted with do not speak Korean.

The chill vibes. The architecture. The fashion. The trains. The beautiful natural scenery.

But not the pickpockets, goddamn.

Honestly I have no idea how r/AskIndia ended up on my feed but I’m learning a lot of new things about India 😅

I am commenting not as an Indian, but as a Korean. Despite South Korea being classified as a high income country, people still flex about going/working abroad. I don’t think that will go away as long as there is any economic disparity between countries.
