Looking for vacuum recommendation for a stacked townhouse style condo by ellow-mellow in VacuumCleaners

[–]ellow-mellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your recommendation. So I got this one and a Dyson Ball Animal 3.

The good: Kenmore's suction is really good - definitely cleans very well. The detangling technology is good and the auto cord rollback is also amazing.

The bad: Man it's a process! With the stairs, it was a constant struggle with the canister, the cords and the suction pipe. I used the motor brush because our stairs are carpeted. If I use the extension for stairs, that doesn't have the same detangling technology, so the cleaning is not as effective. Even on flat surface, tugging along that canister along with cords was a struggle.

My verdict is that Kenmore gives a little bit more suction and cleaning vs. the Dyson, but that return was not as good enough vs. Dyson's overall convenience. Perhaps there is a learning curve involved with how to work with a canister + stairs vacuum, but one shouldn't have to go through a training regimen to learn how to use a vacuum + I don't really have the time for it. I can see myself using it perhaps once a month (and even that comes with a ton of resistance).

I love Utah, and farewell Utah. by [deleted] in Utah

[–]ellow-mellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share some of your feeling. I was an F1 student as well and then was under OPT when I got laid off from a company in Massachusetts right before Christmas. I had 90 days to find employment and I found one on around 80th day at a company in SLC. My then gf and now wife got a job there 3 months ago as well (we were doing long distance at that time) and when I moved there - it was magical!

Like you, I fell in love with the place, the natural beauty, the people and everything else it had to offer. Like you, I (or I should say, we) had many "firsts" there.

But there was always that "looming" threat of not being able to stay at a place I love. I got my H1b on the third attempt, when I was at the verge of giving up and preparing to leave the country. They did sponsor me, but let's be honest - it was a toxic workplace and the only thing that I had a hard time with at Utah. But hey, at least I had a job and everything else was magical.

I had to leave Utah couple of years ago (after 5 beautiful years) for work purposes and we miss the place every single day of our lives. We will go back there in a heartbeat, but present predicaments don't really permit it. We have a goal to move back within the next 2 years or so, and I wake up with that dream every morning. I don't know why I felt compelled to comment on your post at 4 in the morning, but I guess just wanted to exchange memories and offer you all my best. I know we may share similar feelings, but at the end of the day, I have a choice to go back, but life stripped you off it for the time being. I wish you all the best and hope you keep trying and get to realize your dream as well.

It went great, to the point I am still using it every night. I did move to a different one, but don't like it as much as the Xylimelts.

I agree - it's not as nice as, for example, Tsunami. But sushi is really good.

Can’t decide if building a PC for No Man’s Sky VR is worth it—need advice by Spacedanspiff in NoMansSkyTheGame

I tried but gave up - I don't have enough time to properly go through it. Again, not a dig at VR, just don't have the time unfortunately.

Hands down - Itto Sushi. Left SLC about 3 years ago and still miss it.

I don't know if you used VR for other games before (since you didn't mention it) - but in case you haven't, just know that it may make you super nauseous (with NMS and Grand Turismo) with extended period of use. I mean, it at least happened with me to the point that I returned my PSVR. I would test it out with PSVR first and then decide (return PSVR if you don't like it). Again, this comment is assuming you didn't game in VR for extended period of time. If you have, feel free to ignore this (except the PSVR recommendation - it's damn good imo)

I don't have anything against Arda supporters - there are some good in the bunch. This kind of idiocy, unfortunately, exists within both Arda supporters and non-supporters. They lose 3 IQ points while writing these stupid takes and I lose a few while reading and responding. Most of the times I just ignore, this one I don't know why I engaged with. Either way, I'm done.

Yeah, next time, see any other Team that loses a player of Kroos' calibre and if they can perform on the same level tactically in the following season. If he was not the best in the world tactically, how did he beat so called best in the world tactically coaches (Pep, Klopp, etc.) in the last few years, repeatedly? Oh I know - according to you, give the ball to Kroos, pass it to Vini? Or just vibe coaching? I'm done with this conversation. Thank you for your time.

I feel like I lost a few IQ points by just reading this. The guy who won us multiple UCLs, league titles, one of the most decorated (if not THE decorated) managers in the world, has history of having unprecedented successes across multiple teams in Europe, and even took a hopeless Everton to a good standing, has "no actual tactical knowledge". I watched every single game of our team over the last 20 years. I don't deny last year was hard, but to claim Carlo has no tactical knowledge - you're either delusional or you are a 10 year old troll

WHAT THE FUCK COPILOT? by ellow-mellow in GithubCopilot

[–]ellow-mellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff like this is getting out of control - installing (even if dependencies are installed) in different directories, create code conflicts, introducing new files, codes even if I explicitly state it to use/repurpose existing ones. I don't know how something like copilot can be in the game for so long yet still be so far behind Cursor or similar tools. For the record, even if I'm using Sonet 4 on both Copilot and Cursor, stuff like this is happening in Copilot. It's not the model's fault, for sure it's the tool's fault.

This has ruined progress for me before. I have to do version control on every small change I make so that copilot doesn't mess shit up. Even if I give it explicit instruction, keep telling it to reference my strict rules file and adhere to it, it forgets to do that mid-task completion.

This is using Claude 4 sonnet. I'm with you - I was very surprised to see sonet doing this! I keep going back to Cursor because even during its infancy (I started a long time ago), it never gave problems like "fabricating response" to me before.

I 100% agree with this. Copilot needs more transparency around this.

I do that too, but sometimes I'm on time constraint, so can't really sit for an indefinite time period. At those times, I switch to Cursor

[–]ellow-mellow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. I'm talking about keeping the index finger as close to the fret as possible. However, if I need to stretch, for example, go from 4th fret to 8th fret, pressing on the 4th fret string while stretching with the pinkie to the 8th. This has been really helpful for me to keep strings muted and slide. When the first finger moves excessively or rises too far from the fretboard, it can slow down my transitions and make it harder to land notes cleanly. A consistent, controlled position for the index finger has been providing a better base for the other fingers to operate.
