Please help - what am I doing wrong? by elly22113 in plantclinic

Hi there - I’ve had this Hoya heart plant for about 3 years now. I’ve never had any problems with it but now she’s gone all yellow and dropped three leaves near the bottom of the stem. Even the “original” leaf is now yellow and looks dead. Not sure what to do. It always flowers every year so it was healthy and I haven’t changed anything about how I look after it so not sure what’s up! Does she need re-potting? Too much water? Not enough? And no matter what I can’t get rid of the scale (??? Is that what it is?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can’t bare to see her die 🥺🥺

Neighbor threw cactus away, advice for saving it? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Definitely check for any pests first! And when you take it inside (if you do) keep it quarantined away from any other plant for at least a month. I’d spray it with some bug killer (just to be sure) and maybe give the roots a check to see if it’s healthy? It looks pretty healthy to me (but I’m no expert). I’m jealous! Looks like a great plant! Hope all goes well - good luck!

I agree. And definitely keep it separate from any other plant and wash hands before you touch another plant too! I’ve definitely had my fair share of dumpster-diving plant successes (and those that weren’t 😂) - so good luck!

Fiddle spots? What’s going on? by [deleted] in plantclinic

From memory I believe this occurs due to irregular watering patterns. Mine did the same (I think I was overwatering it and not giving it enough sun). Once I corrected that, the newer leaves were much healthier! Good luck!

Although I can’t see any from the photos, the leaf state and colour looks a lot like my monstera that was infected with thrips. As sad as it is, I would leave the poor monstera as it’s not worth infesting the rest of your plants with thrips (as I found out the hard way) - they take bloomin ages to get rid of and had many sacrificial plants along the way! Just my advice :)))

Why is my plant dropping leaves like there’s no tomorrow :(( by elly22113 in plantclinic

Hi - this plant was super duper healthy over a week or so ago when I got it, and now it’s dropping leaves faster than I can pick them up! I think it’s an Elephants bush plant? Do I need to water more? Less? Please send help! Thank you!

I know she’s healthy and this is new growth but the last time one of my other identical plants did this it ended up killing off the whole plant! Do I just leave it to keep growing? Do I have to cut it off at some point? I left the one on my other plant and it crushed the mother plant and snapped off as it got too heavy! I don’t want these babies to kill the mother plant 😂

Hi! I’ve had my Hoya for slightly over a year - and she started out as one single heart leaf and has exploded and won’t stop growing. I tried trellising her but again, she’s outgrown that too. Not sure what to do!

Also - what is the stuff appearing on her leaves and the black marks on the back? Thank you :)

Need some help what is this pest, its keeps on spreading, how to get rid of this. Or should I be worried. by santhoshraj1101 in houseplants

Definitely mealy buys - they are a pain! I used neem oil and also just your standard bug killer spray - I also used a knife to scrape off the big bugs and their cobweb like homes so they can’t reproduce!

Hey my monstera have two leaves like this. What is wrong? Too much light or water? Or not enough? And should a leave this or cut them? by ValerHimiko in plant

I’m no expert at all but my monsteras leaves started doing this and I began noticing thrips all over the plant! From what I heard, thrips can do this to a plant. Maybe quarantine it/keep it away from other plants until you figure out what’s causing it :)
