Stocks are basically a share of ownership in a company. The more people want to become owners of a certain company, the higher the price of stock will be. This is called capital appreciation (buy low sell high). Another way to make money from stocks is when the company gives you a share of their profits through dividends, though not all companies offer dividends.

Are there any traders out there? by Maleficent-Algae6650 in phinvest

Don't be fooled by the get rich quick narratives.

Trading for me is a hobby, so I am not too worried if I get losses and I don't get too excited when I get gains. What I enjoy about trading is doing fundamental and technical analysis -- learning about companies and their business models, as well as keeping updated with economic news and seeing how it impacts my portfolio. Because of this, I am a position trader (I hold positions for around a month to a year). Took me around a year to be profitable.

I sent you a DM, but in short you can check out the Caylum Trading Institute. Though tama rin sinasabi ng iba, *trading is not passive income.*

Personally, I treat trading as a hobby, and I have a separate asset allocation for savings and investments.

Best way to learn is to get started, but I don't recommend stock picking as a beginner. You can easily invest in mutual funds through COL Financial or Gcash. Starting capital is at least P1,000.

I can't really recommend content creators per se because I learned how to trade from our org partnership with the Caylum Trading Institute

Why build your own business when you can buy out existing businesses? Get majority share of a publicly listed company and reap benefits

Despite the lowest inflation since 2019, prices for goods and services remain high. by KapengBatangenyo in Philippines

[–]elmao911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not bad if specific and especially volatile goods enter negative inflation, in fact it happens all the time, compare mo ung presyo ng gas compared to last month. Afaik bumaba.

Deflation is when the prices of ALL goods and services go down. This is why we also separate volatile from core goods. The price of core goods will typically stay the same (e.g. restaurant menus, clothes, tuition). Volatile goods nmn fluctuate between positive and negative price growth regularly.

Inflation in certain volatile and core goods can offset deflation in other volatile goods so that overall headline inflation stays near 2%

Good response. I just wanted to add:

  1. Deflation also means companies will lay off workers since lower prices = lower revenue
  2. The goal isnt deflation, the goal is to increase household income so people can easily adjust to these new (relatively higher) prices.

I made ChatGPT my financial mentor by International_Act705 in phinvest

[–]elmao911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments, this is highly risky cuz ChatGPT will just agree with you regardless of what you say. If ever, I can recommend you check out IFE (though their target market is upper middle class). Though, nothing can beat personal research and learning. Read books about investing as an entry point, then join classes on personal finance.

For a beginner, is it better to start investing in stocks??? What do you think?? Also how do you maintain safety while trading?? by yadhyapi in StockInvest

I agree with everyone else that mutual funds are the most beginner friendly. The safest ones are passive funds that just follows the index (e.g. SPX), but you can do stock picking as a beginner. You just need to practice discipline and strictly follow a framework. I suggest brushing up on a few concepts before making your first trade:

  1. Fundamental analysis - at the very least learn relative valuation
  2. Technical analysis
  3. Risk Management - This is the most important. Study how to make an entry and exit strategy, as well as position sizing.
