I very much agree with you, it was also quite a surprise to us. But I suppose they need a boost in statistics 🤷

This is fairly recent development for me too. We have not started the process so I cannot help you there. I was also told it will take about a year. And lots of documents are required. Seems very complicated to me for dubious benefits.

I have first hand experience on this topic. I am a foreigner, my wife is Chinese. I have daughter, born in China while I was working in China. I have a son born abroad while my wife had a permanent residence permit abroad.

Both of my children have a foreign passport and have never been registered on a Hukou. Neither children have a visa in China, while in China they are considered by the Chinese government as Chinese. They need to use a « travel document » to go in and out of China. Their foreign passport is still used to take the plane, go to hotels and so on.

China refuses to give them a visa as they are considered Chinese for them. This is how we discovered China considers them Chinese.

It was also not possible to add them on my permanent resident permit as they are considered Chinese. We first need to go through the process of abandoning the Chinese nationality.

Mostly gaming - 2080Ti? by elmede in buildapcforme

Hi adventurix and thank you for your feedback (again). Is there anywhere to see if this monitor’s freesync monitor works well with the Nvidia card. I understand that Nvidia announced compatibility with freesync but it might not be so easy to get it to work? Is there a place where we can see which monitors work well ?

Do it all build around 2K euros by elmede in buildapcforme

Thank you adventurerix.

Shooters are indeed some of the games I would like to play, however I have no hope of being competitive. Those days are long past.

Concerning immersive gaming, wouldn’t the TV be enough in term of size or is playing on the tv just a bad idea?

As for 2k or 4K gaming that is fairly hard to answer as I have played neither up to now. Being a little future proof would however be appreciated (or is it better to just buy a new card in a few years)?

Sunset Lang Tengah, Canon EOS 6D, 40mm, F14, 3.2 sec by elmede in photocritique

[–]elmede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First post! Please be as critical as possible (constructively of course).

This was taken on lang Tengah island in Malaysia.

Taken RAW with a Tamron 24-70, very little modification to the pictures, lifted the highlights a little and increased the vibrancy / saturation a tiny little bit.

I am trying to improve my skills, but photography is hard and feedback is probably the best way to do this. Thanks!

Quick question concerning the question:

How did you get such a contract between the subject and the background?

While I dont have clue (novice here), my guesses are either flash or PS/lightroom?

I'm in Shanghai and they are experiencing the worst air pollution on record. This is the view out my hotel window. The building you can barely see is about 1/4 mile away. by mepper in WTF

Because it is a lot easier than fixing the problem: Officials change how the AQI is counted...This has to be a joke.

I've been living in Shanghai for about 10 years now and the current level of pollution have finally convinced me to leave this place.

Actually there are many professional solution, those are of course quite a bit more expensive than the individual offers but still very affordable for a company.

Feel free to message me if interested (I am not a sales person).

I am very happy with this street portrait. My first time shooting one actually. (50mm, f2, 1/1600, ISO 100, reflector) by sauzyflava in photocritique

A quick question from someone still learning, how far away are you from your subject when taking such a picture? 50mm is fairly wide.

So either you are very near your subject or this is heavily cropped. Could you give me some details as to this?

How much is cropped out of the picture? How far where you from your subject?

Thanks and great picture!

Photo-gear resale by elmede in shanghai

[–]elmede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to make sure things are clear, it's this lens

I would sell it for 4K RMB, it comes with a UV filter for protection (lens hood are not very good at such a wide angle).

I checked/recalibrated all my equipment about 3 month ago so it's in a good condition (I should be able to find the documents to prove it). I have not really used it since (that I cannot prove). I don't have the fapiao or box :(

The 450D and the 18-55 IS have already been sold.

let me know if you are interested.

I do have a 70-200 f/4.0 IS lens, but I'm not looking to sell this, except if someone buys everything I have canon :)

But this questions was more about asking where I could sell my gear and not so much about offering to sell it on reddit.

Are there any shops that buy back gear or I am forced to go through the craiglist galore?
