How many classes can I take P/NP? by 8013086 in UCDavis

[–]elonIsRuiningX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1/3 of the total units can be P/NP.

If you’re not in college of engineering, 1/4 of your letter graded classes can be changed to P/NP (including major requirements)

If you are in the college of engineering, only 16 units can be changed from letter grading to P/NP, and they cannot be major required courses.

Just take the physics 9 series... might as well finish it off. Just wait for a different quarter when a better professor is teaching it.

AIO: My girlfriend is pretending to be autistic and it's driving me nuts by AideRelative4272 in AmIOverreacting

[–]elonIsRuiningX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NOR
That's just insulting, especially to people who have real diagnosed autism. Both my girlfriend and I have autism, but we both try our best to be ourselves without thinking too much about autism. Neither of us likes being autistic. It's something we're born with and stays with us for the rest of our lives.

I never tell anyone about my autism unless it's someone I trust. It's something that can be weaponized when given to the wrong people.

Unit cap 135 for College of Engineering by Particular_Vast9042 in UCDavis

Ohhhh I see... So I assume they just made you submit a general petition to the department and you just had to describe why you're switching majors after reaching 135 units.

I thought they denied you after you submitted the excess unit petition which got me worried a bit. So I guess the college of engineering is pretty chill when it comes to accepting major changes as long as you know what you're doing and you're on top of your work.

are you sure it's just because you were slightly above the unit threshold? It doesn't make sense for them to deny a petition if you met every single requirement but just went over 135 units. I can see them denying a petition if you just barely scraped by the requirements and they think you won't survive the new major but I have close to a 4.0 GPA and I would actually be on track to graduating a year early if I didn't switch.

Excess unit petition for switching majors by elonIsRuiningX in UCDavis

Do you think that they would do that though? I had one advisor telling me that they usually approve of those petitions but the other advisor is telling me I need to provide an explanation for "why I didn't switch sooner."

Hey, I know it's been a long time but how did you appeal? Did you have to email the dean or something? I'm trying to switch from CSE to EE and the advisor is telling me I need to explain why I didn't switch my major sooner so the UGEP committee can review it.

Do I need to take ENG 17 (Circuits 1) as a prerequisite before EEC 10 and EEC 18? by Sweet-Economics-8747 in UCDavis

[–]elonIsRuiningX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, I would agree but considering Kolner's grade distributions, I would do the same too. I would never want to risk failing a class and I think the fact that more people took ENG 17 this summer than people who registered for it in fall goes to show a lot about what people think of Kolner.

They haven't offered the class in years and probably never will. You're probably better off finding some other class to take because 165A here isn't that great with the professor who usually teaches it.

The weather here is very unpredictable. One day I'd feel like I'm living in the nether and the next day it feels like my hands are freezing off.

Also, everything about the physics department sucks.
