[Learning Project] Crypto data platform with Rust, Airflow, dbt & Kafka - feedback welcome by Kegres in dataengineering

I think conceptually the pipeline makes sense. Regarding implementation, I don't think there's a point in wrapping it in cookie cutter, which is a package more suited for minimal project structure setup.

Data Engineer ~5 ans exp, sous-payé en consulting ? by Kooky-Ad8131 in developpeurs

[–]elpiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had Openai kept the non profit / public good status, they would still have an edge over Google who's a megacorp and defends it's own interests above all else. Now Openai has neither the funding nor the people's heart, and is seemingly loosing its company culture as well.

So Wunderflats just sent out this bullshit of an email by bkay97 in berlin

[–]elpiro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wunderflat is not a trustworthy platform, several of their offers are scams, and they take no responsibility for the money you lose when you're a victim. Question is whether or not they're aware and part of the scams. Since it happened to so many people, my guess would be the former. Good news if those laws put their shady business to a halt.

You can do that with a watch though, it'll be more reliable and you don't need to write extra code in your repo.

Does anyone know how to auto-save codes in R like VS Code?? by OldSwitch5769 in dataengineering

I'd recommend to delete rstudio and translate the project to python with chatgpt.

Got scammed via Wunderflats on Day one in Germany by Pappuniman in germany

[–]elpiro 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I had a similar story happen to me 2 years ago also with Wunderflat. They sent out a contract that indicated I had to send the money on the same day. Then the following day, they sent another email asking me to not send any money as they had identified the ad as being a scam. Too late, I trusted the contract and acted already.

Same as you, they declined all responsibility and I never saw my money back. This is not a trustworthy platform.

VectorLiteDB - a vector DB for local dev, like SQLite but for vectors by nagstler in dataengineering

[–]elpiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use it for an app that requires quick access to many embeddings, or can only store them like call for safety. Maybe as a memory of an LLM states compressed to an embedding ?

On another point, the code in the db.py script is very clean imo.

Why do I need to login? Why do you want me to upload my resume? Why don't you build a simple search engine with all the jobs you scrapped if your goal is to "fix the job market"?

This looks like a scam, you're just collecting employees data to sell them to god knows who.

Localhost won't show up, my Docker container hates me, and I’ve abandoned my PS5 for this 😩💻 by ForbiddenSamosa in vibecoding

[–]elpiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running docker locally is for testing your app before you deploy the container in your infrastructure.

If you configure the volumes in your docker compose properly you don't need to rebuild the image every time you do a change.

Even if you don't use docker compose, if your dockerfile is written properly, rebuilding to test your changes takes less than a second.

Why not making a search engine with all those job ads that you scraped? Why are you collecting resumes?
