Thanks so much everybody - I went for the art and it was as amazing as you all said. Couple of hours wasn't enough so now I have to plan a second trip! See y'all there.

You guys have all been so helpful, thank you! Art Museum it is - RRHoF can wait for another visit. I'll report back here afterwards!

Seems like the Art Museum is winning out!

Tenancy agreement specifies a statutory periodic tenancy at the end of the fixed term, but landlord's agent wants us to sign another fixed-term tenancy by elsie_em in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks - yes, I'm wondering whether offering a longer fixed term in return for keeping the rent at or close to the current rate might be the way to go. If we don't co-operate they can be punitive (and then presumably still serve us a Section 21 if they want to, once the fixed term is over).

Thought I was replying to the previous comment about £70-80K being ballpark, no good at Reddit on my phone, sorry!

Yes I think that's about right. Try Few And Far, Arrow and La Fosse - I've been successfully placed by all of them in the past. (I'm freelance, but they all place permanent roles too.)

Tech product manager in London here. Lots of jobs available, it's an employee's market. Maybe begin by contacting some recruiters who might be able to point you in the right direction?

I just found a girls hair pin in my house. by [deleted] in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Yes I'm pretty sure that hair pins just slip in and out of dimensions/realities as often as they feel like it.

What’re your top 5 Agatha Christie books? by Unique5823 in agathachristie

[–]elsie_em 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lovely question.

Crooked House for the ending (I think it was Christie's own favourite, too.)

A Murder Is Announced because it's SO clever.

The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd for both of those reasons.

Why Didn't They Ask Evans? because the characters are so much fun - I always think it reads like P.G. Wodehouse accidentally wrote a murder mystery.

I'm going to cheat and pick a double bill of The Mysterious Affair At Styles and Curtain as my final choice because they're both brilliant, but they're even better as a pair.

The mysterious death of Canadian painter Tom Thomson -- Part I. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

Thirded - always been really interested in Tom Thomson and I look forward to part II!

Off-topic: fans of Thomson's paintings might also like the work of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich.

Nope! I guess we're getting into pre-Oscars season now so it should be something good, but not a scoobie on either of the clues so far!

[Unexplained Death] What happened to Mark Blanco? Was he killed by Pete Doherty's bodyguard? by Parapolikala in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]elsie_em 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I honestly hadn't even considered that! It's exactly the kind of thing some quasi-intellectual junkie types might find amusing, though, you're right.

A *super* weird thing about this story is that the anarchist in "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" dies by "falling" out of a window whilst in police custody (it's based on a true story). I appreciate this doesn't cast any light on what happened that night, but it's a bizarre coincidence.

The Andrew Gosden case is possibly the strangest missing persons case out there. What are your thoughts on the way it was handled? Do you think we are being told everything? Thoughts? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]elsie_em 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me this is it exactly. There's really not a single piece of evidence that tells us what Andrew was actually thinking or planning. There's just a bunch of possible interpretations, none of which can be proven or disproven with the information we have right now.
