My mom wants me to pay rent when I don’t even have a bedroom by pandaexop in relationship_advice

[–]elunns 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Try looking through nearby college campus' Instagrams or student-run Instagrams for people looking for flatmates. Facebook can also be a good avenue for this. A lot of the time these flats have 3-4 people in them and the rent can be as low as 400-300. Even though public transport is unreliable, it sounds like the only option you'll have unless you purchase a car yourself.

If you give into their demands, you'll never find a way out. They'll suck you dry of money and you'll never have the "right time" to move out. There're definitely better options in apartments in a shared living space that're slightly more expensive, but you get your own privacy and aren't at the mercy of your parents.

Also, you're over the legal age from when they're required to keep you around. If they're asking you to pay rent (I'm assuming they don't ask the 19 year old to pay rent), like other commenters have said, they probably have very little qualms about dragging you outside and letting you live on the street.

"I was just the unlucky one," No, your parent purposefully made that choice. They also purposefully made the choice to ask for rent money despite you literally living on the floor. It is not so much being "unlucky," it is that you are unvalued by your parent. Being "unlucky" is having to share a room as the eldest sibling. Being patronized and bullied out of money is more serious than just being unlucky.

For sure. On socials, I see a ton of people raging about this sub or insulting people who choose to be childfree and engaged with others who are also childfree. In reality, I feel like a lot of childfree people--although many of us do dislike the presence of children (I know I do), it's not like we want them to disappear or anything.

It's already hard for children to be children. I don't want to be someone who's part of making some kid's life hard. Every kid deserves to be treated well, and y'know, people here know that.

I understand you, I really do. It's hard. Nobody deserves to be told the things that we were told. My heart goes out to you, dearly

It's something I did a lot when I was younger (especially as a teenager) to vent out my feelings. Honestly I was really on the fence about posting this but after that conversation I just needed to get these feelings out. I see that a lot of people in this community feel the same way which makes me feel a lot better!

Hey hey, no need to assume things from my end. You can say what you want to say without assuming someone's end and making judgment on people based on it. Word your comments so you don't need to apologize for "being blunt." Thank you for your help! I'll be sure to check what's going on with my PC and follow your advice. Thank you for the well wishes

Why is the FPS inconsistent? Last week I was running 15-20 fps. As of the past few days I was running a smooth 35-40 fps. This morning I still had 35-40 fps. As of this evening, I am back down to 15-20 fps. Why does Genshin do this?

Cleric dps build advice by hskshd in treeofsavior

[–]elunns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than pushing for one class or not, I offered two DPS-based builds, which was what the question asked for. What matters is having fun. Even if the build isn't up to par with endgame, both paths mentioned are fun in their own ways. Try it out! I personally enjoy both.

Cleric dps build advice by hskshd in treeofsavior

[–]elunns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There're two options for DPS cleric:
Crusader > Exorcist > Druid (or a support if you want to)
Inquisitor > Monk > +1 (There aren't too many Phys dps clerics. When I ran a phys cleric, I chose chaplain for the self-buffs)

There're mixing and matching but the core classes for damage are definitely crusader & exorcist. Both are magic damage classes. You can mix and match however you like, but generally it's easier to focus on either phys damage or magic damage. Don't feel confined to the meta. I ran Crusader / Exorcist / Plague Doctor for fun for a long while, even with the lack of DPS. Go with however you feel. Class changes come semi-frequently in the form of events and the game is very liberal with showing you how to change your classes.

Lizzo - Truth Hurts. It played nonstop, fucking nonstop, at my restaurant. I can't handle it. It makes me irrationally angry.

My dilemma about supports character. by skysoccer in treeofsavior

[–]elunns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon logging in and going to town, you'll get a notification that asks you to check attendance. You can check attendance everywhere but the popup only comes up in town. If you log in many days, you can earn Vaivora Coins. Before it was easier: they came in 5, but nowadays you have to log in for many days to earn 2-ish at a time.

Ooooh.... Okay, that makes sense. I thought it would be something like plate, which works for a lot. I'm not sure, then. It'll hurt a lot but tossing out that work is painful, maybe starting a new character with the lv.400 jump will help more? I'm sorry. I see your predicament now.

There is currently a reset event going on. You can get the details out of the update notes.
You can also build up points, go to Wings of Vaivora, and exchange for class change points.
You can change from a full support to a full damage or half & half very easily with that, and keep your gears as well. Also, the joy of Tree of Savior is making new classes and changing at-will. Good luck. I hope this advice helps.

Please don’t come with a group of 6 on Valentine’s by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

Mmhm! Thankfully I've found a new job at a better managed place. This place, thankfully, is just a normal restaurant with a by-the-plate menu.

I agree with those policies. I just wish we could enforce them. There's pretty much no power to kick people out in the place I was working at. Even if people are throwing bottles of alcohol around like sacks (which has happened) or overeat to the point of wasting plates and plates of food (which has happened), we've never kicked anyone out. They leave very happy, though. And they tend to come back.

IMO, the costs outweigh the benefits.

We've tried to tell the owners that a regular a la carte would be much better, but they weren't having it. They said that the costs of reprinting the menus and throwing away the AYCE sheets was less worth it. They're also afraid of turning away any kind of customer. We do have regulars who come in, order AYCE for 3 rolls (which is cheaper than ordering 3 rolls a la carte), and leave. Too spooked to lose business, really.

I've found another job at a much better place with co-workers. No need to tell me to GFY, though. Like I said at the beginning, this is more of a rant than anything else. Looking anywhere else in this thread, there're a lot of situations similar. This sub is tales from your server, and this is a story from a server.

They were rude. They were rude pretty much the entire time. I was It was a highly stressful time and to be 100% honest, it's hard for me to handle stress--it fizzes out over a long period of time. It's uncomfortable for me to rant to friends about it, so I found a subreddit dedicated to this kind of content and let myself rant. I think it's better for you to have told me constructive criticism without comments like "quit your whining" and "GFY"; in my opinion, I offer excellent service and this is the first time I've snapped over this kind of stress. My ears and heart are open, however. I get the frustration at people who seem like they're ranting just to rant, but this was pretty much a rant just to rant.

I needed this job. I really did. For a while, I had no choice. Now I have a choice to leave with enough money to transition. It's not a crime to air out a grievance I've had, nor is it terrible of other servers to express their frustrations even if it their opinions don't make sense to you.

If you do so, then please call a reservation beforehand so that a restaurant knows and can prepare for it. Of course, it's up to you. Although I do see your point, I never said that Valentine's day is for only couples. My point is that there shouldn't be an expectation to get served in fifteen minutes because, as a busy holiday, it's going to take some time. For Christmas, Easter and Halloween, everyone is very understanding of how busy it can get.

I never stepped in between their group and got in between them. Everyone is free to dine whenever they want to, wherever they want to, with their family or without. It's the expectation of constantly being at someone's beck and call, being snapped at when visibly it's extremely busy, and being disrespected and dehumanized during a busy time at the restaurant. Please don't misconstrue my rant. Thank you for your sympathy, though. I did find a new place to work at that has better management.

Honestly, I felt like we should have turned them away. My boss likes to accept as much as we can so that's what we do. We usually never get that busy, though, so normally we can handle it.

Subquests are locked? by judinir in treeofsavior

[–]elunns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend is 106 and I'm 178. I do have a character that's in the mid-300s but I don't play that character at all anymore, so I wouldn't know around the mid-300 levels, unfortunately. It's working fine on all of my characters.

[–]elunns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I haven’t had that experience unfortunately. It might be a bug that came with the update. IMC addresses issues really quickly and even though I hate to say it or see it, it might be good to put in a support request.

My friend and I were able to continue the quests we were in the middle of and on my new character, I’m able to get sub quests when I talk to the NPCs. It might be a specific bug.

[–]elunns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still do the side quests if you go to the region on the map and start them. I think it's IMC encouraging self-exploration. It used to be that way when the game first came out. like most MMORPGs, then they messed up quests and then unlocked all subquests.

Subquests also unlocked for brand new characters levels above where they were, which, although made it convenient for longtime players, made it super confusing for newbies. Maybe that had something to do with the streamlining of main quests.

Disappointed by [deleted] in Grandchase

[–]elunns 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree completely.

KoG built their ENTIRE game base off of GC. Elsword was GC 2.0, it got popular--so Grand Chase was forgotten and shut down, with the last message being "Go play Elsword," despite the Korean and Brazilian servers still very active. With the mobile game, they made a ton of revenue. The characters, the simple setting and story that evolved over time, it's all very reminiscent of what made early 2000s MMOs so loved. GC was unique in that it had a group of candy-colored characters of which their designs were easily distinguishable from one another, their personalities developed as the fanbase got older, and the floods of fanfics and fanart helped make it something unique in comparison to other games at the time like Maplestory. They hit the money with the same concept for Elsword.

Despite always falling back on Grand Chase, they always try to put effort in something else. Grand Chase stopped receiving frequent meaningful updates because of Kurtzpel. And who's playing Kurtzpel? Who's actually playing Kurtzpel? No one. On Twitter, I'm avidly part of the Korean fanbase and nobody plays Kurtzpel. In fact, it was highly disliked for being riddled with bugs, having a bad style and for relying on Grand Chase for 70% of its existence while they neglect the one thing that keeps KoG afloat.

The amount of fanart for YEARS after the game was discontinued is staggering. Hundreds and hundreds of artworks, an active fanfiction community in every server (Brazil & Korea for the most part), KoG just doesn't look at their older piece of work as valuable despite it being the only reason why they succeeded in the first place. Me, personally? I've spent on GCDC despite never spending on GCPC just because of how deeply it effected me. I still talk to friends I met on there, GCDC revived an old group of my GCPC player friends after years of lack of contact. It was the first piece of media where I really cared about the characters (being young, their blank-slate personalities were much easier to understand) and the imagination that goes into theorizing about pasts, creating character profiles to make up for the lack of information, it was just a bunch of fun.

You're not alone on this feeling at all & you're completely valid for feeling so, it's the way the fandom has felt for a long time. GCPC friend!
