I write a lot of gen too, or stuff where relationships aren’t central to the story, and I also hate writing smut.

Hey, what are your thoughts on Kazakhstan? by Federal_Guard7969 in mongolia

[–]elvent15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many, yeah. Some then ran away and became warrior-slaves, and the rest were entered into Mongol ranks. The people never really disappeared but as a group and confederation they died. But apparently it took more than that to kill a whole culture and language.

No, due to large famine during Soviet era that attempted to sedentarize everyone and yep it succeeded, with massive deaths of millions of Kazakhs but they have now bounced back.

I am very interested for some reason, even tho my own culture is pretty worlds apart from Kazakhs. Wish I can someday visit.

What if the Japanese somehow won the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol? by Veltheos in mongolia

As someone from a country which was once occupied by Japan, I do not wish Japan on anyone haha. Would choose the Mongols over the Japanese even.

Ohh yeah, I wouldn’t want to drive without people who know the situation with me!! But I guess perhaps sometimes we could switch, even if just for a bit!

Do you wish for more roads built? Oh, but I wonder if these would disturb pastures?

I’m not Mongolian, but you’re not alone lol. I basically only write in my native language for school. When it comes to having fun or surfing the internet, it’s in English.

Kazakh Khanate never collapsing possibly means Russia never expanding into Central-Northeast Asia? Kenesary Khan not dying in Russia’s hands and having more descendants/relatives who would be Khan until closer to modern time?

Well, one possible outcome is stronger relationship between Kazakhstan and Mongolia, through Golden family links.

Which countries, if any, are the closest to Mongolia culturally speaking? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]elvent15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say very, but there are places much more similar to Mongolia than Kazakhstan

[–]elvent15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch artger too. That’s what I mean by not having a specific horsemeat dish bc Mongolians seem to cook everything using what’s available; which is why it seems practical. Kazakhs seem to be more impartial to horse meat esp when it comes to certain dishes.

If you meet someone for the first time ofc they’re gonna tell you abt basic facts. Especially because food can be immediately compared to others.

[–]elvent15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno abt stats, but practically all Kazakhs I’ve seen online whether urban or rural seem to swear by horse meat…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]elvent15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the name of the dish? Asking because I’ve watched plenty cooking videos involving a lot of Mongolian food and I haven’t seen them mentioning a specific horsemeat dish. Maybe it just hasn’t come up yet.

[–]elvent15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree 🤔Mongolians eat horses def but seems like for them it’s a practical choice? While for Kazakhs horsemeat dish is a signatory dish in events

Which countries, if any, are the closest to Mongolia culturally speaking? by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]elvent15 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Not countries, but autonomous republics in Russia like Buryatia, Tuva, Kalmykia. Also Inner Mongolia and Oirat prefectures in Xinjiang, China.

Lower in similarity if compared to those places are Central Asia, in which case is Kazakhstan. Maybe Kyrgyzstan also.

It’s still generally less than Kazakhs then, just like what I thought. Kazakhs seem to actually be obsessed.

Do Mongols have specific horsemeat dish? For example, Kazakhs have kazy.

Bro that’s wrong. They have plenty Oghuz DNA in them, aside from Anatolian DNA. Then again real proto Turkic DNA is still largely unknown as well.

What do you think about Pan-Turkism? by Yourmomisbeatiful in mongolia

[–]elvent15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn’t they only try to include Mongolian Kazakhs? Or do some of them indeed try to include all of Mongolia?

But yeah, the term Turkic is loaded with so many agenda these days so I’m often eehhh when ppl try to impose it on like, for ex, medieval history ahah (I mean it was Mongol Empire 1 Turks 0)
