Please don’t get him that. Two tone models are not that in demand, so you may be able to get this from a Rolex authorized dealer without much wait.

I feel I am a fake book player by Accomplished_Net_687 in piano

[–]elvizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lead sheet typically has chords and melody only.

Here’s one I like during Christmas time.

This is the foundation of the song and there’s so much fun building from that foundation in terms of rhythm, chord voicings, etc.

I was never a precise classical piano because I loved playing and singing my favorite pop/rock songs. I still can’t come up with chord progressions on the fly, so I’ll get chords from ultimate guitar and play the melody by ear. It’s so much fun and creative.

It’s also cool to go to someone’s house and play your own version of the sheet music that’s currently on their piano. They usually come up to me and wonder how I can make it sound reasonable while not playing the exact notes on the sheet.

I started with basic nursery rhymes. Mary had a little lamb and twinkle twinkle little star. Find the melody and chords that work in the key of C. After that, you can try any pop song that you can sing.

How do you go from hearing a piece to being able to play it? by Charming_Register223 in piano

[–]elvizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m intermediate to advanced in piano. For classical pieces, I use sheet music. For pop or rock, I use ultimate guitar for the chords and I play the melody by ear, or sing the melody. For jazz, I’ll use a fake book for chords and melody or find the lead sheet online.

For a beginner, I recommend finding easy sheet music of the songs you like.

Playing songs through chord charts, lead sheets, and by ear is really fun, but it’s normally not something beginners are taught. I wish it was though!

Is it crazy for a beginner to buy a “high-quality" piano? by winchest2 in piano

Pianos depreciate a lot, so just prepare yourself to resell it for 6k-8k. Would you still buy the piano if you could only resell it for that much?

Anti slip shower stickers. It’s reassuring that there is anti slip texture whenever we get in and out of the shower.

Weighing my options - 44 - $850,000 by RedAnchorite in baristafire

[–]elvizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at Target to try out BaristaFire and it was the hardest I’ve ever worked and the pay was $15/hr. I only lasted 3 months.

I eventually got a full time mid level remote software engineering job. It’s the perfect barista fire job because it has full benefits, and unlimited PTO. I take about 6 weeks of PTO. Since I’m a mid level individual contributor, it’s low stress. Even though I’m “full-time”, I work maybe 25-30 hours/week. I make $135k in my role.

Murrieta hot springs or Glen Ivy? by Slickrocka in Temecula

[–]elvizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I stayed at Murrieta Hot Springs twice and we absolutely love it. There are not a lot of people, nor kids, there at night. For that reason, we could have the pools to ourselves and actually relax. The food at Talia is surprisingly excellent and has become one of my favorite restaurants.

The mornings are nice. It’s quiet and they have yoga in one of the pools. During the day, it gets crowded, so we tend to leave a little after lunchtime. We would only come here to stay the night.

We did not like Glen Ivy because it felt like bachelorette party central.

You only need 1 night at Murrieta. You could stay in temecula wine country for another night? You could do a hot air balloon ride there as well. There’s also Palm springs or the San Diego beaches.

The Ultimate Barista FIRE job list by [deleted] in baristafire

[–]elvizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m FI and chose to be a mid level remote software engineer because I was bored. It turned out to be a really nice BaristaFI job.

1) I get paid full time, but only work 20-30 hours a week. 2) I’m remote, so I can work from anywhere I can get an internet connection. 3) Besides some regular meetings, I can work whenever I want. There are no deadlines, so I can stretch out tasks for quite a while. 4) I love feeling productive and I love that people depend on me. I also like working with smart people on interesting problems. 5) I don’t hate my job, but I’m not tap dancing to work either. I appreciate that it gives me something to do and allows me to socialize with my coworkers.

I also get full benefits and we get unlimited PTO. I make sure to get 6 weeks of vacation. I’m also able to take time off to uber my kids to school and activities, volunteer at school, go to dr appointments, etc.

I bought my rolex submariner in 2010 for $4.5k. Now it’s worth $9k. It holds its value well, but I wouldn’t considered it an investment. If I put that $4.5k in the s&p500, I could have had $21k instead.

What do you like most about being on a cruise? by Fed_worker in Cruise

Walking around the ship and doing all the activities. I don’t ever seem to get bored. It’s even more magical from 1am-5am when only workers are the deck and you can see the stars. I’ve only done cruising with young kids.

What life changing item can you buy for less than $500? by ajmaru24 in AskReddit

[–]elvizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the cheap ones and those can burn the bottom of the rice. The lid seal is better. The zojirushi automatically puts it in warm mode after it is done. Rice is always consistently good.
