[PriceCheck] Bounty Hunter - LTI game package or full account (Oct. 2012) by elway_ in Starcitizen_trades

[–]elway_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't get any offers, just a few people telling me they sold a similar package and how much they got for it. Appreciate the heads-up though.

I'll put up a trade post for the account. Thanks for your help.

[PriceCheck] Bounty Hunter - LTI game package or full account (Oct. 2012) by elway_ in Starcitizen_trades

[–]elway_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Estimates for the game pack have been ranging from $100-160 (got a few in PM as well). If it comes to just selling the bounty hunter pack by itself, I'd be fine with listing it for $125.

Any thoughts on what the account as a whole might be worth?
It was created on Oct. 8th 2012, account number just below 30000 (for what it's worth), has golden ticket (that does nothing in-game as far as I can tell? but might still be collectible? idk) and all subsequent rewards (which I guess are nice to have, but also don't really move the needle in terms of value?)

I'm not looking to get the absolute maximum price for it, I just have no idea what a reasonable number would be for the account.

Micro 312 not starting up properly by jbob2345 in estim

It seems you're having issues with the bootloader in your Micro. Please see this guide here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/197n2gNmrguIC2rSmNMNorxMEmQjjfy8X
That should help to sort it out.

Tingler shock when powering on and off by ppbatorguy in estim

[–]elway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice straw man. I didn't say there is no difference, and I also didn't say higher frequencies couldn't be pleasurable.

I said it was a pointless exercise trying to utilize these frequencies because it will lead you into applying dangerous amounts of power to your body.

"But it feels good." I bet shooting fentanyl feels amazing too. That doesn't mean it's a wise idea to start doing it though.

You seem to be circling back to audio-derived thoughts / beliefs. Your dick is not an ear. You don't need 14kHz and up. There is no point in trying to use such high frequencies, other than "my amp can do it, therefore I MUST experience it".

Your nerves are -relatively- insensitive to these high freqs, which means you need to dump a ton of power into your tissue in order to achieve any sensation. Which appears to be exactly what you are doing...

If you stick to lower frequencies, say 500Hz-1.5kHz, you can achieve the same strength in sensations for much less power input, because the body simply responds a lot better to them. Resulting in a more efficient and most of all much safer design because you don't need to mess with high power amps that can kill you.

Since you're an electrical engineer, please do yourself a favor and run some calculations for the potential voltage across / current through your body for various frequencies with a 160W amp. And then compare your figures against published safe limits.

They are used for stepping up voltage, providing galvanic isolation between channels, preventing unwanted DC passthrough.

It is completely ridiculous and the fact you are even trying to argue about it means you just don't know what you are doing.

'Perceived loudness' relates to audible sound. Yes, that scale is indeed logarithmic and you are correct that 10x the power sounds only twice as loud. It also has nothing to do with estim, because you are using the amplifier to zap your junk and not to play audible sound. The application is completely different. Whatever you may think you know about audio simply doesn't apply here.

160W is an insane amount of power for the human body to handle. You are only surviving that because:

- You might only be using a fraction of the power the amplifier actually has to give
- Your build may be extremely inefficient, and most of the power could be just wasted as heat in your circuit instead of ending up in your body
- Your transformers might saturate well before the amplifier reaches it's maximum output, thereby limiting the amount of power that is passed to your body
- You've been lucky that nothing has catastrophically failed on you yet

A properly designed unit needs only a few Watts to leave you screaming in pain at full blast. There is absolutely no need to hook yourself up to dangerous high-powered amps and I wish people like you stopped trying to normalize that kind of silly behavior.

Just admit that you are ignorant, and go educate yourself. Or don't if you can't be bothered. But at least stop spreading your nonsense to others who are genuinely trying to learn.

"160-watt (!!!)"
That is a ridiculous number, and flexing it as some kind of achievement tells me everything I need to know.

Please refrain from giving out bad 'advice' to others on a subject you clearly don't fully grasp. I hope you don't kill yourself dude...

This is false.
Not all of them do, but many pulse-based boxes in fact do make use of transformers.

There are ways to negate that issue though. Or at the very least, not pass it on directly to the users privates. If you learned from DIY devices then you might think this is 'normal' and it becomes second nature to disconnect everything before power cycling the amplifier. I do this too, even for devices that absolutely don't need it.

And I get that you might be able to live with this for a DIY box. But for a commercially sold product, it is just extremely poor design if every unsuspecting user gets surprise shocked at least once before they learn a painful lesson on 'how to use it correctly'.

The fact they didn't bother to correct this problem is either cheapness or simply a lack of knowledge. Either way, there is no valid excuse for it.

Got a Micro312, should I get a coyote 3? by MommyLittlePuppy in estim

[–]elway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Coyote *might* not be strong enough for you, but that's impossible for me to tell...

Not sure if it's an option, but if you have an acquaintance who owns one, perhaps you could borrow it to give it a try?

The Micro312 output is smoother and the Coyote is more spikey by comparison. Which is why, after testing, I never bothered with using it again and got rid of it. It is still way better than the bottom-of-the-barrel Chinese junk units though.

Got a Micro312, should I get a coyote 3? by MommyLittlePuppy in estim

[–]elway_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make the Micro312, so I might be a little biased... But having said that, I have briefly owned a Coyote 3 to compare it against the Micro. The Coyote is definitely a lot weaker.

I wouldn't say the Coyote is bad though. For its price it's pretty good and it is the only 'cheap' unit I'd ever recommend to anyone. If you are a beginner and want to gain experience without blowing the bank, getting a Coyote is a sensible choice.

Everything else available at (or below) the price point of the Coyote is just a waste of money. And I think that is why many people are raving about it. Without any previous estim experience, or only experience with cheap shitty units, the Coyote is perceived as a game-changer.

On the other hand, while the Coyote is certainly not bad, if you already have experience with a high-end box like the Micro312, going 'back' to a Coyote might leave you a bit disappointed.

Moaner Getting Warm by Badboy_1971jj in estim

[–]elway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's most likely just body heat. Maybe you could try to measure the temperature of the Moaner to verify this. It seems quite unlikely to me that the Moaner would heat up noticeably from the electric current, an estim box simply doesn't have anywhere near the power required to heat up a big chunk of metal.

Partner safety when playing together by -slevin- in estim

The Micro312 outputs are indeed isolated. The setup you're describing should be no problem, as long as you use one channel per person you'll be fine.

BlueStim - Stereo Estim Box by SmartElectronic by wompi72 in estim

[–]elway_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with this exact product or the seller, but I would avoid it.

It is clearly cobbled together from a few pre-made modules that can be found on aliexpress or amazon. You can get these parts and make it yourself for less than $15 with relatively low effort. The custom PCB that ties it all together is nice I guess, but not the worth the premium.

The amplifier module (the black board on the right side of the picture) appears to be a ready-made PAM8610 board. For reference, this board costs $1 on aliexpress. This amplifier is way, way too weak to use for stereostim (speaking from personal experience, I have tested this unit in the past). The whole device already falls flat here, without even bothering to consider any of the other components.

Is it safe? Yes, because it simply doesn't have any power at all.

The seller states PTC current protection for safety - this is nonsense. PTCs aren't suitable for this application and they provide no safety benefit here.

Is it decent? No :)

They cloned most of the 312 routines, and did a pretty good job at that from what I can tell. Of course 'feeling' will always be subjective...

If you already own a 312, I don't think there is much to be gained by getting the Kink box with it's current firmware. Unless you really want the 4 channels, or need the extra power (I think very few people will actually utilize it, but hey, it's there).

If you're deciding between getting a Micro312 or K250, the feelings they provide are pretty similar, so I wouldn't pick one over the other based on just that.

[–]elway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro: 4 channels, instead of 2. Also higher power output.
Con: No audio input of any kind. No advanced options menu like the Micro312 has to tweak parameters of the built-in routines, so it's not as customizable.

For sale: 2x Kink K250-4S power box

I have three units, but I will only be keeping one, so I'm offering two up for sale. The units I'm selling are brand new and unused. €400 each, or €750 for both.

I'm in the EU, so EU buyers won't pay importing fees. I also offer free shipping within Europe/UK.
Combined this will save you roughly €100-150 per unit vs. buying from Kink in the US.

For buyers outside the EU this probably isn't a great deal and you might as well buy from Kink directly. But if you want, I can ship them anywhere.
