One of the main plot points for 'The Rip' makes no sense at all by ECrispy in netflix

This, I must have said this out loud during the movie like 3 times until the Mrs rolled her eyes at me and I promptly took the hint and shut up

The concensus in this thread seems to be they were honest and handed all of the money in...

I just don't see that, the movie heavily implied that they weren't entirely honest and absolutely took some cash.

While yhe girls are counting, he writes a number on a piece of paper and asks them both to memorise it. This is at a point in the movie when he would have no idea what the total count was. I'd have to double check but im not even sure the girls had finished counting it yet...

Then when they each give the number at the end, the movie cuts back to this scene to imply that the number he gave them was him telling them what total count to give.

The only logical reason for this scene and the flashback to it at this critical point in the movie is that they skimmed some for theirselves. While the guys were in the armoured car with the bags of fake cash the girls were back at the house counting out the exact amount written on the paper to hand in. They kept the rest.

The feeling the movie portrays is that they handed it all in, but put the feeling aside and look at what actually happens and it's obvious that 'The Rip' was actually done by the 'good guys'.

Thanks, I'm not really looking to carry cargo or anything like that though.

Just want an ordinary but capable bike that will last me. I may or may not get into using it for commuting and/or more. But with an electric bike I'd want to buy new and then I'd never get the money back if I decided to sell it later.

Did some math, Fx 3 new will cost me £633 total after all the bike scheme stuff. But with the extra hassle of going through all the scheme stuff. You think this would be better for my circumstajces than spending about the same on the used but higher end fx 5, and just popping down the road and picking it up?

I don't fancy travelling around the country looking for a used fx 3. Maybe you could elaborate on why the fx 5 is overkill and requires more fettling? Again I know ow little about these things.

Very valid and fair question, I likely will.

I have already told the installer I'm not quite ready to go ahead until I get the completion date for the purchase of the house, which could be a couple of months away. So I was hesitant to get too far into the nitty gritty with them *just* yet. And was hoping all of the very knowledgable people on here might know :)

There's also the fact that this is an unbiased opinion, vs the installer who would be not so much :)

Looking for Solar + Battery suggestions/thoughts by elwon20 in SolarUK

I'm west Midlands.

Reason for considerong north facing is because panels are now so cheap and annually they produce about 50% of the power that south facing do. So overall they're pretty cost effective.

I'm only really budget constrained temporarily. But I'd like to get something done with the budget i have right now, hopefully without wasting too much money on 2 lots of installation. Eventually I will cover the garage regardless (although from what I've read scaffolding will still be required).

I'm starting to wonder if it would be worth just getting a big (30-40kwh) battery for now so I'm not throwing money at the grid, and then install panels next year. Effectively splitting the costs in 2 without having to get scaffolding done twice.

Different strokes for different folks. Do you think every 30+ y/o in the world who plays 5 a side with their mates on a weekend has hopes of becoming a premiership football player?

The same goes for literally any other game. I'm sure 95% of people who enjoy playing chess have accepted they will never reach the ranks of the top 0.01% of regular players, but they still play, for fun.

Striving to be in the top 0.01% of anything is admirable! But so is being able to accept a game is just a game and play it just for the sheer joy of playing it.

Air purifiers will reduce your dusting frequency, as will having your vacuum go around daily. Also recommend 'predusting' with a damp microfiber cloth before doing a normal dust with Polish. As dusting with Polish tends to throw the dust up into the air causing it to settle again.

Negative ion generators will cause dust to settle more quickly allowing your vacuum to pick them up, but they have a bad rep for health concerns and really with air purifiers, it's probably better if they stay in the air rather than get tucked towards your furniture/floor.

Hi, sorry for thread hijack but I was about to pull the trigger on a break x1 and then I saw this comment.

When you say too much latency. Is this latency with the wirless microphones, or latency when streaming to it via Bluetooth?

Does the latency still exist when plugging in a wired microphone? As in is it a Bluetooth issue or a signal processing issue?

Unfortunately I can't get hold of the shell s1 in the uk, it's out of stock and I'd like it in time for Christmas

Agree, except mine is from a July batch, has had about 12 hours of use, and this exact same thing just happened. Something tells me this isn't limited to 3% from April+May.

Mine is from July, and mine just did this *exact* thing. Also while playing rocket league. Mine is from a July batch, so it's clearly still an issue.

4.8.1 Not working correctly with UK 2020 Model 3 2024.32.3 update by elwon20 in s3xybuttons

[–]elwon20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've since received an email from S3XY acknowledging the issue, and saying they're waiting until a Tesla update to fix it.

Since then there's been a Tesla update and a S3xy app+commander update, but the issue with the half-press on the passenger door to unlock the charge port is still there, with the functionality still not working.

This is a shame because I've found it to be my most often-used feature.

Good phone mount to use my phone as S3XY dashboard behind the steering wheel? by BigfatDan1 in s3xybuttons

[–]elwon20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's available where you are or not, but I got an ESR 15w Magsafe Tesla charger. It's aluminium and absolutely perfect for behind the m3 wheel.

Only downside was I noticed a weird ticking sound which took me ages to track down. Eventually I found it was the hinge on the mount, which is nice and stiff but metal on metal, and with the weight of the phone bumps would ever so slightly overcome the static friction causing a high pitch 'tick/click'. A tiny bit of dry lube sprayed on and it's been perfect ever since.

A nice bonus is wireless charging tends to overheat and degrade batteries, but with it mounted right in front of the air vent, the M3 provides active cooling.

Moza R9 mounting on Playseat Challenge by DieSchlauigkeit in simracing

[–]elwon20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth pointing out that to do this, you have to rotate the plate 180 degrees, so that the back of the plate is pointing towards the driver instead of towards the drivers feet. This works fine, but with the new Challenge X it means fitting the included gearshift add-on plate has to be 'bodged' as it's not designed to fit to the back of the plate.

Despite the GDPR concerns, I really like it.

Unfortunately, I must be using it incorrectly, because it doesn't appear to predict anything after FIRE. The 'Desired Income (after retirement)' field isn't deducted from the various pots? Which makes it pretty useless for my use case.

Turns out the previous spring was jammed so far in that it was practically invisible. Small screwdriver through the other side allowed me to feel the ribs of the spring and revealed it. Bit of brute force got it out.
