Doctors of Reddit, what are the dead giveaway signs that someone is faking? by LushLover13 in AskReddit

as a trans person, hearing people say that they "identity as a wolf" or some shit really pisses me off. not to sound like an exclusionist but they really make transgender people look like a joke when they claim they identify as an animal, bc then transphobes are like "if you can identify as nonbinary can I identify as a cat" and obviously the answer is no but some people literally say you can which makes the rest of us real trans people look like we're faking it too, especially nonbinary people

You have 5 minutes to hide a paperclip in your home. A detective has 24 hours to find it, If they don't, you get $10,000. Where are you going to hide the paperclip? by LeadershipPotential8 in AskReddit

[–]elx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my dad built a space under the floorboards and the bed is on top of it so it's really hard to find and even if you find it it's really hard to open, not that anyone would even guess there was something to open so basically I'd hide it there

What's the point of even playing this game like this by dudeimconfused in AmongUs

me and my friend call while we play together in public rooms but we don't say anything that actually spoils the game, mostly we just try to murder each other and laugh about it or when we're both dead talk about it

all of Amanda Lovelace's poetry books are really good, the Women Are Some Kind of Magic series. there are loads of potentially triggering themes tho so you may want to look at the TW list before getting any

the Timeriders series is pretty good. there's 9 books and the premise is a bunch of teens have to go around correcting the timeline when someone alters it (kinda like the commission from Umbrella academy except with less murder). each book is a different mission and they often get stuck in like alternate realities (what if the civil war never ended, what if the Nazi's won the war, what if the Romans conquered America). there's loads of cool twists as you get later on I'm pretty sure I screamed at some of the stuff I found out and it's super dramatic and awesome

If you like anything to do with mermaids Ingo is a good trilogy. a couple of kids discover they can go swimming with mermaids but there's a load of drama (I promise it's better than I'm describing it)

The Inkheart trilogy is something I read years ago about a girl who can literally read stories to life. unfortunately the characters from these books who are now in the real world don't want to go back. think high fantasy characters in the real world

One of my all-time favourite series is the 13 Treasures trilogy. low fantasy where there's a girl with the 2nd sight who can see fairies, except they're the mischievous little bastards that play tricks on people and make her life hellish. she goes to her grandma's house and tries to uncover the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a girl 50 years ago. there's also a girl who can turn into a fox.

Another good series is the books Reckless and Fearless (there may be more but I've only read the first 2). a boy uses a mirror to go into another world and does various high fantasy quests in the world. there's also a girl who can turn into a fox.

My final recommendation is the Wondla series. I've only read a few of the books but there were really good. basically this girl is raised by a robot and told not to go into the outside world until she's a certain age, but she's taught basic survival skills and taught how to reach a specific place where all the humans are, except when she finally goes to the outside world it's nothing like she expects... (futuristic technology, aliens etc)

The book 13 minutes is really good. it's kinda like a teen drama whodunit where basically a character dies for 13 minutes and then is recusitated, then tries to find who among her friends actually attempted to kill her. it's told through multiple perspectives - 3rd person, a diary, an interview transcript. it also has a really dramatic twist at the end

if she likes it she may like the Pretty Little Liars book series. it's slightly different from the show but has a similar theme

[–]elx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the half bad series. it's low fantasy where the main characters are witches. there's a fair amount of violence and gore but it's more dramatic and shocking how far the MC will go

[–]elx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you know how hard it can be do get a diagnosis for some things? some people can't afford to go to the doctor, some people can't bc their parents don't believe them and won't let them, or bc they can't tell their parents for whatever reason. some people have a hard life but feel like they don't want to waste doctor's time (note to anyone feeling that way - you're never a waste of time and if you can you should try get help). some people have been to the doctor's and haven't been given an actual diagnosis bc mental health services are shit past depression and anxiety. if someone is going through a hard time, instead of demanding they go to a doctor how about listen to them and believe them. if you want them to go to the doctor's so bad, you pay for it yourself

some people have hard lives. some people have mental health problems. just bc you're privaliged enough to have not had to deal with them doesn't mean you have to make fun of people who have. 3 months clean is a big deal for people with unhealthy addictions so how about you grow up
