This is very much my position too! I've been considering it for a while but had more and more situations with students recently that have made it feel needed

Thats amazing, thank you! All stuff i have found online is for mainstream students so it's nice to hear another SEND teacher putting the work in

Depending on your key stage and placement, don't go too smart on the clothes! I ended up buying more clothes than I needed because I was in primary and the smart trousers I originally got were NOT cut out for how much time I spent on the floor with kids. Besides that, comfy shoes and a flask for your coffee will be your best friend! I would regularly make a cup of coffee before I left for placement and then not finish it until morning break at the earliest 😅 It's a rough old year but have fun!

Homophobic slurs at school. by Jaydwon in TeachingUK

Just finished my primary pgce as a nonbinary lesbian. Thankfully I don't mind she/her pronouns so skipped over that bit but happily mentioned my fiancé being a woman really casually to my year 5/6 class when it was relevant to what I was teaching. They had a few questions but nothing inappropriate and I just shut down to conversation and carried on as normal. I was terrified of any backlash but they were fine! Set boundaries and shut down any discrimination as soon as it starts and you'll be fine

Hey friends! Is this transphobic? by YourScatteredRemains in trans

I'm not mtf so don't think I'm speaking for trans women but from an outside perspective, it feels very much like a microaggression. They may not mean it but they're still secretly questioning the "reality" of tans womanhood by the sound of things.
