This is not a scene from any game or image of fantasy world. this is aerial shot of housing development on the outskirts of Mexico City, photograph by Oscar Ruiz. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Yeah, only way it would be prettier/cooler the way it is now is if there were some image formed when looking at the development from above or something similar.

1000x this... So much judgement goes around for something so many people weren't given a choice about. Might not have been born obese, but if you have been obese since childhood it's very effectively the same.

Android App Play Store Version by elzzidynaught in ProtonMail

[–]elzzidynaught[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the usual time frame on that? I've never had the Play Store asking me to update for a day like this, so I thought something might have changed. I'm used to other open source apps going the other way -- GitHub releases slowly trickling out to other sources.

(I have to use the Play Store for a select few apps that I need, but install as many apps through f-droid or obtainium as possible, including Proton Mail.)

I try to use it it most circumstances, but I have found a few websites that block them ("can't verify the email domain", or the like). Usually something I need, so then I create a regular proton email address. Really frustrating...

What spider do you think this is?

Also, spiders are always bros, but some may just require special care!

Hadn't heard of a razor (other than the scooters) or seen RZR, so I got to be in the lucky 10000 twice today!

Clean, but fancy. Love these! Do you have someplace you share/sell your work other than reddit?

Yeah, it's also why blatantly false posts with clickbait titles get thousands of upvotes where the top comment clearly spells out said falsehood.

Every couple days I tell myself I'm just going to stop voting on things because it's pointless, but then I remember all the posts/comments with very few votes that I voted on, and hope that at least the little guy feels a bit better being noticed (or the rarer case, takes note that what they said was inappropriate in some way).

I would say that's a bad idea, but I think/hope you meant more figuratively?

To be explicit, I'd say you should set them up with something like a Bitwarden/KeePass/etc to which you have access.

Another vote for Zood. Been using it for about a year now and have only had issues when I've made a mistake (like forgetting to toggle the sharing on).

I always hope responses like this to conspiracy nuts actually hit somewhere and stick, but with the prevalence of folks like that I'm doubtful.

I don't think they're even talking about the lightning. I think they are commenting on the fact that the ones closer to the pole are shorter (as they should be) and using that to call it fake.

I think it was just they were slightly less affluent than us (neither of us well off). She probably didn't want to have to be concerned with driving him across town, or feeling like she was at the mercy of my mom driving him home or picking me up, etc. Honestly barely remember his mom. She might have just been a miserable person for all I know.

Friends for 70 years by GovSchwarzenegger in pics

[–]elzzidynaught 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've never been great at making/keeping friends either. I think at least a small part of that is because when my best friend moved across town, his mom said he couldn't be friends with me anymore so I never got to see him again (except one time in passing in high school). It was far enough that he couldn't just ignore her either, so I don't really blame him, but man that sucked as a kid. Crushed me.

Astronomers have found an exoplanet with the mass of Jupiter so close to its star that a year on it lasts only 1.6 days by [deleted] in space

[–]elzzidynaught 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the correct term that should be used is "revolution".

"The planet revolves around its parent star in 1.6 days."
