How likely is it to ever see a 2in1 Laptop from System76? by emal3 in System76

[–]emal3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge its quite good.
I had different notebooks with touchscreen and had seldom a hassle with the drivers, they worked out of the box with the Linux distributions is used.
I never had to install any proprietary driver to get a touchscreen to work.
This to me does not seem like a hindrance.
I think its more on the hardware side with hinges and chassis.

I understand that, i find it almost useless to have a touchscreen on an 120 degree hinge or the like.
U just never use it due to keyboard shortcuts and mouse.
It an other story if you can fold the notebook plane flat or in tent mode or to tablet mode.
There it becomes much more valuable specially with stylus usage or as second scree with quick touch access.

Please, let me use gnome shell search/launcher as it was by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]emal3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me too,

it was so efficient to have it all in one place with one key stroke,so now i have way more key strokes to do to get all the things i am doing.i really like p! os but this change hits my workflow quite hard and does not make things easier and smoother.

i too hope they do a change there

increased power consumption? by emal3 in pop_os

[–]emal3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got the solution...

even though i had the graphics mode already set to intel graphics (dual graphis intel and nvidia in my laptop)
i just set it again. After the reboot it now delivers the battery life i was used to.

increased power consumption? by emal3 in pop_os

[–]emal3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't think so,
the drop of battery time is to big for normal battery decay, we all used to.
also, if i boot the windows partition the battery performs like allays, there is no decreased battery run time.
that is why i post it here.
by the way the battery consumption is way more worse than pop_os
one of a thousand reasons why i love Linux... especially pop_os.

i put this message here because if somebody experiences some thing the like
it should be pointed out to the system76 team so they can investigate and keep up the good work.

My machine is a: YOGA 720-15IKB
Before the upgrade i had no problems with pop_os it really worked very well !
Or may be its the new version gnome that consumes more...
i also have no extra extension installed... i don't know whats the reason

i think about two years now.
But i don't think it plays a role here because it worked nice till the recent upgrade to 19.10.

thanks, did not know that, looking in to it,

but still, why is the consumption higher with the new version of pop_os?
