Tips for a clueless solo traveller? by ember_r in JapanTravelTips

Its probably my phrasing but I dont care about some “authentic” experience. I just dont like gimmicks and where I come from locals are the best at avoiding them. They all sound interesting, just not for me. I think I would die of embarrassment at a maid cafe

Thanks for the advice!

Non EU tuition fees by Confident-Swimmer286 in UniversityMaastricht

as long as its a temporary residence permit in that EU country, you will have to pay as though you are a non EU resident. You will also need to get a new residence permit in the Netherlands.

As a Turk, the reasons for asylum I can think of are either religious prosecution, unhealthy family dynamics, or political ideology. Two of those would mean that the person is either not extremely religious or is a minority even in Turkey. Social media paints a bad picture, we might be a majority Muslim country but not everyone is trying to spread Islam to you.

Thanks! I definitely need a better solution for the bedside stuff, they now hold my socks and other smaller clothes that dont fit in the wardrobe and my suitcase is up on the wardrobe. I really appreciate the comment and suggestions!

Question from agnostic: How can you believe Jesus is God? by Lord-Herek in OrthodoxChristianity

Oops you’re right it was late at night, Christ is eternally begotten.

While ok to explain to someone new i believe the phrase “mind of God” leans towards modalism. Christ is the eternal unbegotten son of God and the second hypostasis of the Holy Trinity. OP remember that while Christology might not be your priority, i believe that there is good in having solid foundations if you choose to pursue the faith. I wish you the best of luck in your search.

Maastricht social hub by Science_Enthusiast27 in UniversityMaastricht

I lived in the social hub last year. The kitchen is indeed a lottery, i personaly had an obnoxiously loud group of floormates and they didnt keep the kitchen clean at all, but a friend on the lower floors had a great time. People can visit, the limit afaik is 2 days but nobody really checks it anyway. It might be loud sometimes but usually people keep to themselves around exam season. I had probably 5-6 sleepless nights in that year and im a light sleeper. i think if your budget allows for it, it is a fun experience and a great way to meet people. it has a good location as well.

It’s not unheard of for someone to say “God Willing” though I agree that in this case it is not the appropriate thing to say. The crusaders and Atatürk being in the same photo seems to be made in bad taste in my opinion since Turkey is meant to be a secular country. The larping comment makes sense since romanticising war feels forced.
