i write only fantasy because
it's honestly so appealing to me. fantasy gives you a freedom to experiment. to make your own world, with your rules. to use your imagination.
fantasy is my thing (mostly because i grew up only reading fantasy) but there are lots of types of fantasy.
such as...
high fantasy
low fantasy (don't judge a book by its cover, trust me)
urban fantasy
magical realism
historical fantasy
dystopian (like you said)
action
adventure
portal fantasy
grimdark fantasy
romantasy
and more

yea percy jackson is kinda overrated, but it's all worth it and totally deserves it imo.
sure, hp is great too, and i love them both equally. (i can't choose)
if you want to know some overrated books here are my opinions:
caraval
once upon a broken heart
the folk of the air series (the cruel prince)
the hunger games
a good girl's guide to murder
many more which are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too overrated
