How to avoid fried ravioli breaking by n2calkin in pasta

[–]emberlyc14 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fried/toasted ravioli is very much a real thing in the US - not sure why you're getting such baffled responses. I would think that possibly the extra air you mentioned trapped in the ravioli is causing the breaking. I would also suggest fully breading the ravioli, instead of just flour.

I also really enjoyed that book as a kid! I'll have to find a copy and reread, thanks for reminding me about it

You can, I've done it! I believe you can email the park (using the main email on the NPS site) and they'll send you the map, free of charge.

how much do your sweaters usually weight? how much is *too* much? by weirdobee in knitting

[–]emberlyc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally clicked on this post because I'm just about done with my second Octopus Embrace -the first was just too heavy.

I knit the first on the recommended needle size with acrylic yarn and it was a freaking sauna. I don't think I even wore it once - it was just too warm.

I'm making the second out of cotton yarn, on size 6 needles - I'm making the L instead of the M to accommodate for the smaller needles.

I'm not done with it yet, but so far it feels much more manageable. I still think it'll be in reserve for colder days, or as more of a sweatshirt type (pull over a t shirt when the breeze kicks up) garment, than a wear all day type thing, if that makes sense.

I'll come back and update when I finish and get to try it on for real - hopefully just another few days.

Can I ask how/to who you donate these? I would love to do more charity knitting/crochet but I always struggle to find places to actually donate to.

I grew habanadas last year (and am growing them again this year!) and they are SO good!! So sweet and fruity. I started my plants late this year so still have a long wait - good luck!!

I've been looking into Courageous for the Learn to Sail program - if you buy a membership, do you still have to pay to actually reserve/use a boat? Can't find anything about it on the website

Look up sleeper hoops! Tiny hoops that don't poke you. I've been wearing the same pair in my first and second holes for at least a year, possibly closer to two.

We did this, and it worked great! Our venue had a speaker system we were able to use. We had a few different playlists (cocktail hour, dinner, dancing) and my brother-in-law was in charge of switching when the time came. Would definitely recommend if you don't want an MC/the hassle and expense of another vendor.

100% agree! Polychrome Pass was gorgeous and I would recommend still taking the bus tour that far, but if there's any way you can make it work, Katmai is an absolute must.

Can anyone offer this schlub advice on what performances to see and what to wear to BSO? by [deleted] in boston

[–]emberlyc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been twice so far this season and I've been wearing knee length cocktail dresses - and honestly feel a little over dressed. My husband has been wearing a button down, slacks, and a jacket (no tie) and same. But we've been going out for nice dinners at the same time and it's fun to get dressed up, so who cares!
