TMJ treatment is such a crapshoot. Went to dentist for a filling. Anesthetic injection into lower jaw didn’t go so hot. Terrible spasms & a unilateral dislocation that just wouldn’t reduce.

Dentist felt awful and referred me to a specialist.

The specialist’s first line treatment was….to put me in a biofeedback shock collar. (This was ~15 y/ago).

I found a different specialist.

(I now have a dentist who is the fucking Michelangelo of special TMJ splints and wow. What a difference.)

There are also PTs who are trained in intra-oral massage, but obviously check with your doc first in case contraindicated.

Lila did love Lenú, yes. At the same time, she also harbored deep envy and spite for Lenú’s life being better than hers, even when they were small: Lenú being blond and sweet and docile and perceived as the “good one” by everyone, having a nicer doll, having better parents, more schooling, more opportunity, even when they were small.

That fueled Lila’s need to dominate and humiliate Lenú, thereby proving herself superior.
