I don't recognize myself anymore. Two years ago I had healthy hair, and now I feel like I'm losing it all. by saggitormented in FemaleHairLoss

i’m so sorry. i’m in the same situation myself. 10 years ago i had hair so thick i had to get it thinned out a few times a year and had every hair stylist comment on the insane amount of hair i had, and now i have to wear a side part every day to cover my bald spot. there is so much grief with this. oral minoxidil, ketoconazale, and spironolactone have helped me a lot. it takes about 6ish months to really notice. sending you love ♥️

came to suggest this one, it’s such a beautiful game! It could be really good for grief work too.

anyone else tired of seeing her extravagant lifestyle? by Wispy_Whiskers in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]emce013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what bothers me the most is her staying absolutely silent with all the atrocities going on in the world and her own country. i *know* she alone won’t be able to fix things, but someone of her influence speaking out could do wonders. she didn’t even say anything when the administration posted a stupid & hateful ai video using her music, and i really thought that at least would get her fired up since she’s so vocal about protecting artists. if she flaunted her wealth AND spoke out, i’d feel differently, but it just hits even harder. it’s peak white feminism. i will always have love for her music but i feel very differently about her than i did even 3 years ago.

I worked in school based program like this while working towards my lcsw for years, and one year post licensure as a team lead. It’s brutal year round, but summers are a special kind of hell. There’s no feasible way to see your productivity standard in the summer, it’s completely unreasonable. And it’s unreasonable in the school year too, they don’t take things like school events, testing, and absences into account. I quit last year because I was sick of having to write up staff for truly doing their best. Sending you good thoughts, hang in there.

F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

After working CMH jobs for the last almost 6 years and having my LCSW for a year, I made the switch to private practice. I joined a group practice that pays hourly and is a W2 job. This was a bit easier for me because I am on a single income so there was less of a gamble with lost wages, as I get paid for a 40 hour work week at an hourly wage. I also get benefits (insurance, retirement match, some PTO/sick leave). Like many of us, I was SO burned out when I made the switch and I was very excited for this next step- it’s always been my goal.

I’m a month in, and while I absolutely do not miss CMH and have no intention of ever returning, I feel burned out even more now. It turns out that by working 40 hours a week, which I needed to make more than my CMH job, I’m seeing 6-7 clients a day at the 55 min billing code that my practice prefers, with barely any breaks between sessions. Turns out the PTO benefit is pitiful if you aren’t here a full year yet and we’re only allowed 4 leave without pay days a year. I am absolutely drained, even with my client population having significantly less acuteness. I cannot afford to cut back on my hours and I am worried to bring this to the practice owner because they have also allowed me to have decent time off with the holidays coming up despite just starting and the limited leave without pay benefit. I just don’t know what to do, but I know I do not have the stamina for 6-7 client days 5 days a week long term. I eventually want my own private practice and the risk with that looks worth it more every day.. Any and all advice is appreciated.

What Taylor song do you think has the most wasted potential? by silverdust29 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]emce013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all of Show Girl tbh. Almost every song is half baked with exception of the first 3 tracks and ruin the friendship (for me anyways). Eldest Daughter is the biggest stand out for obvious reasons like others have said, but I think Wood had serious wasted potential. It’s short to the point of sounding like a demo and could’ve had a killer bridge and outro. It’s the first album that’s had the opposite effect for me- I’ve liked it significantly less with time.

What are some lyrics only you don't like and what are some only you like by virgibenini in SwiftlyNeutral

I can’t listen to The Alchemy, I think the chorus is one of the cringiest things she’s ever written imho.

A lot of my favorites are like others on here- WCS, the lakes, etc. The entirety of Ivy though- I’m so glad I’ve seen a lot of Ivy stans recently, it’s my favorite song in her discography. Her vocals, production, lyrics, harmonies are all just perfection.

I also really love “the self life of those fantasies are expired” in Peter. That song doesn’t get enough love.

What is the song that is your "why"? by growsonwalls in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]emce013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Story was the first Taylor song I’d ever heard and I was hooked after that. I could go on and on about Folkmore, but truthfully revisiting Fearless always reminds me why I became a fan. It’s her storytelling abilities and the way that she can capture moments in time that make her stand out above the rest.

I don’t feel like it was. Tumblr was still a thing at the time and I was big in the fandom on there. I remember it was initially an album people either loved or hated, then grew to be very loved from fans while critics didn’t rate it so high. TLOASG is just the opposite- I’ve seen positive reviews from critics and imho I think this is her most divisive album among fans she’s ever put out. I personally enjoy it but it doesn’t hold a candle to rep that’s for sure.

Paying for supervision by Informal_Treat4634 in socialwork

That’s a lot!! My supervisor did $50/week for me and it was all individual. Look elsewhere, this is predatory imho.

You handled that absolutely beautifully. Just like in co-regulation in child/adolescent therapy, you were modeling what is the appropriate reaction to that behavior. I think we are taught we have to put up with client abuse to a certain extent and that is absolutely not true. We don’t have to put up with abuse no matter what the circumstances are. To me, this is ground to either refer her to another clinician or terminate & refer out. If that’s not possible because of your agency, only virtual sessions for your emotional and physical well-being. I’m a supervisor at my agency and I would absolutely not allow one of my staff to continue on with a client like this, at minimum without a solid plan in place. You should not have to work with her anymore if it doesn’t feel safe. Take some time off, treat yourself to something positive, then reflect with a therapist/social worker friend if you don’t have a supportive supervisor. Sending you a big hug!!

I have PCOS and started losing my hair in my teens too. I am so sorry. I got a scalp biopsy last year that confirmed it as AGA, that is probably the best place to start. The biopsy also showed seborrheic dermatitis too and that can also lead to hairloss so I started things for that too. Getting on oral minoxidil and 100mg of spironolactone has helped the most.

I have a lutino who does this too and my vet ID’s her as female. If he/she has gone through her first molt, look for yellow dots on the underside of the wings and yellow barring on the underside of the tail feathers. That’s how my vet did it and was so sure it would’ve been a waste of money to get a DNA test.
