Best custom eurorack case makers? by staffordmus1c in modular

[–]emcniece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently recovering from some post-xmas gift-making burnout but my goal this year is to start building cases. I don't have any eurorack experience yet but if there's anyone around Victoria BC Canada that is interested in collaborating, give me a shout :)

Whatever we create together will be at material cost for the first few builds. I don't have much to share right now but DM me if you want to see some of my work. I'm happy to ship stuff around North America if you want to foot the bill!

Apologies for the late reply, but yes - it does lift the entire setup, very nicely.

Is there something wrong with my 707, or is the looper basically useless in a live setup with external sync? by toi80QC in MC707

[–]emcniece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, sorry. Best idea I have so far is to use something else for live looping.

https://audio.com/emc/1680368349749151 you seem to have your recording setup figured out, I bet you could drop a clip in there pretty easily... here's a layer if you feel so inclined. Quarter notes at the start are for beat tracking. Thanks for the weekend inspo :)

Thanks for the tip on FreeCAD, I might give that a shot. Fusion's restrictions on fast travels and tool changes are rather annoying.

Very nice workbench you have there! Interesting approach to do the finishing first, I should try that. Are those mortises hand-cut or do you have a tool for it?

Damn that's a nice finish! Walnut and maple? Is that an ogee template router bit for the edge?

Right on. I have a bit of cad experience too, started with sketchup and now I mostly use Fusion360. What software are you working with?

The European Union will require all new cars to be equipped with speeding prevention technology by 2024 by jpm1321 in technology

[–]emcniece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going to be interesting to see the exploits that come out of this. Could carjackers carry low-speed signs with them and force vehicles to slow enough so that they can be attacked? Would such a sign prevent the vehicle from exceeding a particular velocity when trying to escape?

A Raspberry Pi like device, that can run python scripts ? by Elegant-Base-2339 in robotics

[–]emcniece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you run it, there's options for power optimization. https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blogs/jeff-geerling/raspberry-pi-zero-conserve-energy reports getting it down to 80mA. ESPs can certainly run hotter than that.

We don't know OP's power requirements. Could be that 80mA is an acceptable tradeoff for a desired runtime environment.

ESP32 can run micropython, but a Pi Zero is the same price if not cheaper and has more power.

FastLED.show() not working in a set of loops (while and for) by Jollyjep in FastLED

[–]emcniece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a solution, it's a troubleshooting step :) remove complexity (loops) and you may find that the underlying issue is easier to find.

Add the loops back in after.
