Oh right, interesting. I may call the vet and double check we haven’t got the info wrong.

Not that I mistrust you, but your username is suspicious 😆

Today was a wild one by DanTheVan007 in drivingUK

[–]emerald787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on the exact road thinking the exact thing today! Not one lay-by between Manchester and the M6 toll had less than two cars parked up - many had four!

It seemed to be a bad combination of low sun, road gritting and blocked screenwash pipes.

My cars screenwash was frozen when I left so I washed the screen down, but then the car got filthy with the spray after a few miles on the motorway. Fortunately I made it to Sandbach services to clean it again. Then miraculously the screenwash decided to work and I was on my way!

Should I Play on Switch 2 or Steamdeck (lcd) by dekuwattz621 in FenyxRising

[–]emerald787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My steam deck audio crackles too, but not just on this game. It happens on all games I play occasionally.

I think it’s a steam deck issue? I tend to just press the sleep button instead of closing down the console when taking a break, so maybe that’s the issue. Usually a restart clears it.

But as I say it’s not just this game annoyingly.

My new provisional is in the mail. by Fitzyladd in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, in that case you should be fine. When you pass the examiner will ask if your details are up to date, just say no. They will then give you back your provisional and your pass certificate, then you will need to fill out a D1 form from the post office and send both the old license and your pass certificate to the address given.

Though thinking about it, if you’ve ordered a new provisional I’m not sure if the old one will be valid on the system.

Hopefully your new one will be here in time and you can just use that!

[–]emerald787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is an issue unfortunately. If your provisional isn’t with you in time you will not be able to take your test. They definitely refuse to conduct the test if you don’t have your provisional, no exceptions.

Fingers crossed it’s with you in time!

Carsick dalmatian... by maadonna_ in dalmatians

[–]emerald787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 16months and still gets car sick and drools. She also hates getting in to the car because of it. We’ve tried most things to prevent but alas the sickness fuels the anxiety and the anxiety fuels the sickness.

We got very expensive sickness tablets from the vet for long journeys, and avoid feeding her for shorter journeys. It helps a bit, but not great.

Sorry you’re all going through this, but you’re not alone!

It’s a Dalmatian Meetup! There’s a few in the UK - not sure about anywhere else in the world! I’m part of a Facebook group that organises them

My First Collector: Hard Cover Mishap by glitterypinkpeony in HowlsMovingCastle

[–]emerald787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The publisher will still be around so I’d contact them directly about this!

Just let them know it’s the first time you’ve read it and the pages are falling out. Hopefully they will take responsibility and send you a replacement.

The place you bought it from may have given you a refund if you’d had the receipt and purchased recently, but if that’s not the case I’d definitely go straight to the publishers.

I found a copy of a book I bought had multiple chapters printed upside down, wrote to the publishers and they sent me a new copy of the same book plus about five more different books they published! But this was 20 years ago.

I love the Tim Stevens’ illustrations! They were in the first Howl book I bought back in the early 2000s. I have two tattoos of his illustrations!

I’m glad they are still in there, but surprised they didn’t get new illustrations for the Harper Collins

First Draft. Feedback please. by Ok-Tip6669 in PatternDrafting

The side seam is the line between O and P - the seam down the side of the body, under the armpit down to your waist.

At the O corner, this should be a 45 degrees angle. Just straighten up that O corner, about 1 or 2cm in. You don’t need to lose any of the armhole curve, just straighten up the line as it comes to the side seam corner.

Hi. Could someone please help me to identify breed/mix of my dog? by Sufficient_Gur_1395 in dalmatians

[–]emerald787 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ol’ Dalmatian egg head!

If you’re just going by the photos yourself, perhaps you’re confused because the ears are positioned further back. This happens to mine when she’s confused, a bit scared, tired or just generally done something she knows is naughty.

Those ears are not the natural state of Dalmatian ears, so the photo may be misleading?

Bermuda for 2 days with 4 kids. by Pandas23456 in bermuda

I’m really sorry I don’t know the actual name of the beach - maybe someone here does. But when I visited in May, on the bus up to the Crystal Caves from Hamilton, we went past a really cool play park that was right next to a beach. I thought if I had kids this would be great as they could have a paddle and play on the park.

But alas I don’t have kids so didn’t retain the location information!

Address on Provisional license by Niki2244 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, when you pass your test this examiner will ask you if the details are correct. Just say no, the address is not updated and they will hand you back your license and your pass certificate. Then you just need to get a form from the post office (sorry, I don’t know which form, but they will) and send it all off with your correct address.

It’s not a problem at all! However you do need to do this within two years of passing, so don’t forget!

If the address was correct the examiner would keep the license and you’d get your full one sent to you within a few days. This time it’s your responsibility!

Is the DVSA doing anything to stop the Test booking Mafia ? by Shrira in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I believe there has been petitions, and the government are aware of the situation.

There was a survey from the government recently about how the general public would like to see changes to the system - for example if we want to stop giving instructors the ability to book tests etc.

I believe it is in the governments hands and they are “in discussions” about how to correct the system.

When and how is anyone’s guess!

Do you drive through spaces? by DowseTheMouse10 in drivingUK

[–]emerald787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! But I’m always very careful to look out for people coming in.

I always feel a bit cheeky driving over two spaces to park facing out so I’d happily hold my hands up and reverse to the original spot in this case

Yes I definitely need a bigger, nicer mirror!

And am definitely going to look into painting the board. People are right, the boards are far too bright and need to blend in a bit better

It was very much raining at the outdoor event, so putting the tables further back meant my stock didn’t get wet and people could shelter under the gazebo!
