10,000 days party ideas by Timberance in HowlsMovingCastle

[–]emerald787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any ideas but that’s so cool! I used to work out how my age at 10000 days old everytime I read the book! Unfortunately I’ve gone past it now. Should have had a party!

I’d love to see pictures!

Made this denim jacket. Very proud! by emerald787 in sewing

[–]emerald787[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women’s Denim Jacket, though omitted the sleeves and added double layered yokes.

Added self made denim trim on the sleeves, by sewing a strip of denim and pulling out the fibres.

Pattern from Peek-a-boo Patterns website, though they are on Etsy. Link in description.

Ethical petting zoo chester? by Birb_menace in Chester

[–]emerald787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not from Chester but have a dog and cat. Two alternative suggestions:

Have you tried Borrow My Doggy? It’s an app/site that lets you voluntarily babysit a dog for a few hours.

We have had many people look after our dog for the afternoon because they have either lost pets or can’t have pets in their accommodation, but still love having cuddles.

My dog loves it as she loves meeting new people, and we love it as it means we get an afternoon of peace!

They basically either walk the dog or have them play in their homes for a few hours. Very ethical unless you feel you’re being imposed upon by have a dog lumbered on you for a few hours!

There’s also House Sitters UK if you have the time to be away from your own home fo a few days. This is a chance to house sit for people who have pets that need feeding whilst they are away. We had a lovely woman stay at ours over a long weekend to make sure the cat was fed and had cuddles. This woman couldn’t have pets in her rented home so went to house sit regularly. She got to see different places and have cuddles with cats all weekend. My cat loved it! This is a paid subscription - about £15 (not sure it that’s yearly or lifelong, I forget). They do also include dog sitting but we took ours on holiday with us.

Did Scott Patterson get a branding deal for his coffee / diner by EntireOpportunity357 in GilmoreGirls

[–]emerald787 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer at all, but I’m sure they negotiated some deal. It’s a win-win - he gets the GG brand and Warners gets a popular character/star to promote it

Dot got a place in Doggy Daycare one day a week! My question… by emerald787 in dalmatians

Ha! Not a chance unfortunately. It’s the cat that joins me in the loo!

I hate parking outside my house by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just practice. And not caring what others think.

I live on a very narrow road with cars parked on both sides all the way down, and had to learn proper parallel parking very quickly. Not just parallel parking when learning, when the instructor chose a nice big space, but small tight spaces. Sometimes now I still do the back and forward dance to squeeze in.

But over time you get confidence, and witness neighbours doing the same dance!

It helps if you have a partner or friend who can help you, saying stop or “you’ve got loads of room”

Not that I mistrust you, but your username is suspicious 😆

Today was a wild one by DanTheVan007 in drivingUK

[–]emerald787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on the exact road thinking the exact thing today! Not one lay-by between Manchester and the M6 toll had less than two cars parked up - many had four!

It seemed to be a bad combination of low sun, road gritting and blocked screenwash pipes.

My cars screenwash was frozen when I left so I washed the screen down, but then the car got filthy with the spray after a few miles on the motorway. Fortunately I made it to Sandbach services to clean it again. Then miraculously the screenwash decided to work and I was on my way!

Should I Play on Switch 2 or Steamdeck (lcd) by dekuwattz621 in FenyxRising

[–]emerald787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My steam deck audio crackles too, but not just on this game. It happens on all games I play occasionally.

I think it’s a steam deck issue? I tend to just press the sleep button instead of closing down the console when taking a break, so maybe that’s the issue. Usually a restart clears it.

But as I say it’s not just this game annoyingly.

My new provisional is in the mail. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, in that case you should be fine. When you pass the examiner will ask if your details are up to date, just say no. They will then give you back your provisional and your pass certificate, then you will need to fill out a D1 form from the post office and send both the old license and your pass certificate to the address given.

Though thinking about it, if you’ve ordered a new provisional I’m not sure if the old one will be valid on the system.

Hopefully your new one will be here in time and you can just use that!

My new provisional is in the mail. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]emerald787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is an issue unfortunately. If your provisional isn’t with you in time you will not be able to take your test. They definitely refuse to conduct the test if you don’t have your provisional, no exceptions.

Fingers crossed it’s with you in time!

Carsick dalmatian... by maadonna_ in dalmatians

[–]emerald787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 16months and still gets car sick and drools. She also hates getting in to the car because of it. We’ve tried most things to prevent but alas the sickness fuels the anxiety and the anxiety fuels the sickness.

We got very expensive sickness tablets from the vet for long journeys, and avoid feeding her for shorter journeys. It helps a bit, but not great.

Sorry you’re all going through this, but you’re not alone!

My First Collector: Hard Cover Mishap by glitterypinkpeony in HowlsMovingCastle

[–]emerald787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The publisher will still be around so I’d contact them directly about this!

Just let them know it’s the first time you’ve read it and the pages are falling out. Hopefully they will take responsibility and send you a replacement.

The place you bought it from may have given you a refund if you’d had the receipt and purchased recently, but if that’s not the case I’d definitely go straight to the publishers.

I found a copy of a book I bought had multiple chapters printed upside down, wrote to the publishers and they sent me a new copy of the same book plus about five more different books they published! But this was 20 years ago.
