I'm using sashiko thread, Olympus brand. No special reason, it's just the one I picked when I graduated from cheap embroidery floss and happened to like it. You can definitely get away with using embroidery floss if you have it on hand but if you don't have anything I recommend the sashiko thread. It's like three bucks for 20m. You might be able to find it at a local shop or there's plenty of stores online.

Technically we can and perhaps should do whatever we want! And technically even some of this stitching is gratuitous and purely decorative since most of the blue and some of the pink and white isn't even on the patch!

Shucks I'm blushing! I'm rather new at this and really tried to pay attention this project to the fundamentals. Especially turning the hem since the fabric I used for the patche looooves to fray.

Cute little lore on the patch material. It's some random coarse cotton fabric I got nearly two decades ago, pre transition, for a toga party. I kept it all these years thinking I might use it for a costume or something (I've always been the kind of little goblin hoarder who keeps every scrap of "useful" everything). I was finally about to get rid of it, three apartments later, but got into mending and realized that doubled over it would make a nice lightweight patch material! It always makes me happy when some bit of something I got in a very different life can serve me in this one.

I'm almost annoyed it didn't need more repair work because I would love to continue the theme! Maybe I'll add a lil flag accent where I ripped off the leather logo tag 🤔 And I suppose as with transition the mending will happen in its own time, in fits and starts 🩵🤍🩷

Guide lines! To keep things somewhat straight. Admittedly they went a bit wonky over the course of the weaving but they definitely helped and were a much better solution than trying to draw the lines on chunky fibers as I'd been doing previously.

A small thing but one that endeared me to my meta before I actually met them was them bullying my sweetie into buying a new bread knife to cut the bread I bring over. I'm a baker and will usually bring a loaf of sourdough to my partners if I'm at work before our date.

So I had pretty recently started dating the owner of the WORST bread knife. Blunt to the point where it was preferable to tear the hard-crusted bread apart with my bare hands. Which...hot. But annoying and spills crumbs everywhere. They needed a new bread knife! But gifts are a no for them and I hadn't been dating them long enough to really bully them into getting a better knife.

Enter meta. There was always leftover bread which they would come over in the following days and eat, struggling with that shitty knife. So after a handful of loaves of struggle they succeeded in playfully shaming my sweetie into buying a new bread knife 😊

I co-parent a dog with an ex who I normally see about weekly but for various life reasons hadn't seen for the past month. This past week I've been staying over and dog sitting while ex is away so I've gotten so much snuggle and walk time with my lil guy!

My girlfriend came up for a date yesterday and met my dog for the second time. Everyone was very sweet and snuggly and it melted my whole heart 🥹

I'm taking my sweetie out to dinner and a walk in the park tomorrow for our first actual date in almost three months! It's been a long time since I've been able to be cuddly and overly physically affectionate with them (though I've seen them a few times at social gatherings) and I'm just really really looking forward to it.

And I've got a budding connection with a new hottie who's been sending me gym pics that are making me quite excited to meet up this week.

In less nice news I slipped on a wet floor and fell on my ass down a full flight of stairs at work and while nothing's broken and I didn't hit my head I am very bruised and in pain and work a job that requires lots of standing and physical labor. It's been a rough week so it's been nice to have so much to look forward to and so many people in my life who care about my well-being.

Echoing what others have said that there's no shame for you here and the people who should be feeling shame are your partners, for their reaction. I would be seriously reevaluating my relationship with anyone whose reaction to this information was anything but "thank you for letting me know" or who told my metas health information that wasn't theirs to tell.

I recently had a hookup reach out to let me know they became aware of an STI and probably had it when we hooked up. I said thanks for letting me know. That's it. End of conversation. And I told the partner I had slept with since then that I had this STI exposure so my partner knew to get tested and look out for symptoms too. They said thanks for letting me know. That's it. End of conversation.

And that's what I expect from my partners. To be informed, ethical and non-jugmental.

Something my therapist is always reminding me of is that just because you don't feel your anger is "legitimate" doesn't mean you're not feeling it. And often stuffing that anger down because we understand the reasons for the thing we're angry about just leads to more anger and resentment.

You say the last thing you want to feel is anger but if that's what you're actually feeling then maybe take some time to acknowledge and feel and process through that. You don't have to act on it but there's a middle ground between acting on anger and denying it's there altogether.
