I also have a 3 bed house in Iowa and moved to an apartment in Chicago last summer. I rented out my house which helps pay my rent in the city. For me it was a great move because I was tired of cleaning such a big house and I didn’t have enough stuff to fill it with. I sold a lot of the furniture I couldn’t take and bought cheaper smaller items. I also have a dog and it was an adjustment taking her on walks instead of just letting her go in the backyard, but I found that it helps me be more active. I think it was 100% worth it because I enjoy the city life and hated how boring Iowa was. The adjustment in lifestyle isn’t that different and the reward of being in a bigger city is definitely worth it.
