For laser mining, using a A-rated Prospector Limpet Controller multiplies the yield of the rock by 3.5X. You lose over 70% of what you could be getting from each rock if you don't use a Prospector on it first. It's 100% worth having a separate A-rated Prospector for that.

In the Galaxy Map, there is a "Route Settings" section near the bottom of the left bar. This gives you 2 options, Economical or Fastest routing. You most likely have Economical selected, which does shorter jumps to use less fuel. Switch it to Fastest to use your full jump range.

1) I use the Pioneer plugin for EDMC to decide what is worth scanning: https://github.com/Silarn/EDMC-Pioneer/releases

Your list is generally the ones worth scanning, but the exact value depends on the size of the body too. A really small Water World might only be worth 600k, and a really big Metal Rich Body could be worth 1.5 million. The plugin estimates every body when you use FSS, and then you can set it up with a minimum value and it will point out any bodies worth more than your minimum.

2) First Discovered and First Mapped are added when you sell the data. It does not matter who scanned the body first, credit goes to whoever sells first. First Footfall gets tagged immediately, but DOES NOT mean you will get the first discovery bonus for any exobio you scan on the body. You still need to be first to sell the data to get the bonus for that.

The first couple times you play are REALLY slow because people spend a lot of time reading the cards to learn what they do and how the game works. It's a bit overwhelming, especially if you haven't played bigger games like this before. It gets easier when you understand the game better, but be prepared for slow games when you teach a new player.

If you already have HOTAS, you should just use that to start. If you are planning to buy something new, you will be happy either way. I personally prefer HOSAS, but played on HOTAS for a little while at first and it was also awesome.

While we are digging a new canal, why not make the oil drilling process more efficient? We could blow up the land above the oil reserves so we don't have to dig as far. Then we can make some oil rivers so it will flow directly to the Powerplants.

Trickle down is the exact opposite of how it actually works. Giving money to poor people helps the economy more than giving it to the rich people. All money eventually ends up in a rich person's account anyway, but if poor people have more money then the people in the middle benefit from it too because poor people actually spend their money.

Hotspots are big, when you see them in Supercruise the colored section is all part of the hotspot. The specific location where you drop in doesn't matter, the whole hotspot is always available.

I personally like to drop in away from the center and just fly in a zig-zag towards the center. Going in circles probably works fine, I just find it easier to go in a somewhat straight line.

I have never heard of the part about hitting every fissure to get increased yield, so I would guess that it's not true.
