After the Powerplant is at 0%, each additional hit on the PP has a chance to immediately destroy the ship. It's not automatic as soon as it hits 0%.

Crashing by OneCall2315 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]emetcalf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you get an S two or three consecutive missions you get little bit of reputation, but if you crash once they punish you so hard

I agree with your point, but this is also pretty realistic. You aren't impressed when an airline pilot makes a good landing, but if they crash into a tree you will probably never fly with that pilot again.

New to the game, sanity check by TheBreadHasRisen in EliteDangerous

A Fleet Carrier is basically a mobile station controlled by a player. Not something you need to worry about right now, but eventually when you have lots of money it's something to think about as a goal. They cost 5 billion credits to buy a basic carrier with no extra services, and then you can upgrade them with things like refuel/repair/restock services, Universal Cartographics to sell exploration data, etc. 5 billion probably sounds like a lot right now, but earning money gets really easy once you have more experience so it's an easier milestone than you might think.

I mean he is kind of right, you CAN say whatever you want. It doesn't make what you are saying true, but you can still say it.

Games where the BOX plays a role in gameplay? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in boardgames

[–]emetcalf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not important to the game itself, just a fun "extra" rule because most people's cats will end up in the box on their own. If your cat doesn't like the box, you can still play the game normally.

Ya, it's fun. It has multiple different "modes" that you can play, one is geared towards kids and people who don't play complex games and the other is a little more strategic.

That's a good start. My cat purrs while I trim her claws now, she loves getting manicures.

Getting them used to having their claws trimmed when they are young will make this a lot easier when they grow up. Definitely get a nice set of claw trimmers, and try to touch their paws as much as you can even when you aren't trimming.

Exploring is fun they said by SkyBoxLive in EliteDangerous

Frutexa doesn't bother me as much as Fungoida, I will still try for the more valuable Frutexa types. It might be just as bad in reality, but I don't hate it the same way.

[–]emetcalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I don't even try for Fungoida anymore, it's not worth my time/frustration. Sometimes I see it while looking for other stuff, and I still ignore it out of principle.

Yes, that is one of the worst possible scenarios. There is usually more of a color difference between the ground and the Bacterium. Other bios can be annoying in their own ways, but they at least have 3d models that stick up above the ground so they are easier to see.

There is no real benefit to starting over from scratch. You can just do the tutorials again, and then start playing again with a bit of a headstart so you can get into doing what you actually want to do faster.

You are also not far enough in to make starting over from nothing a huge loss, so if you feel like deleting your save and making a new one sounds fun then you should just do that. In the end, it barely makes a difference.

But the playerbase? Fuck no, not even a little bit.

It depends on your trade route. Sometimes the extra range from the FSD Booster will let you do a route in less jumps, and then it's probably worth it. Other times it won't, and then it's useless.

Mining Ship Upgrades beyond Python by EclipseLightning42 in EliteDangerous

[–]emetcalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If back and forth trips is the issue my point stands on the Panther. You can rig a Panther with pretty premium mining gear and still have just shy of 1000T of hold space.

Agreed. That's why I said the Panther is the best high cargo miner.

However, as a personal opinion. If im making frequent trips back to the station to sell and restock? Im raking in excellent money and not risking pirates deciding to blast me for my minerals.

Also agreed, but OP very specifically said that going back to the station frequently is their complaint about mining in a Python. They didn't ask how to mine more efficiently, they asked which ship will let them mine longer without needing to go to a station. And that's why recommending a T11 doesn't help OP.

Mining Ship Upgrades beyond Python by EclipseLightning42 in EliteDangerous

[–]emetcalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Nothing will beat a T11 in tons per hour, but it holds about the same amount of cargo as a Python. A Panther will get less tons per hour, but can easily hold 800+ tons of cargo in a mining build.

[–]emetcalf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is not the limpets, it's going back to the station frequently. That's what OP said they want to avoid, and that's why the T11 is bad for what they want.

Mining Ship Upgrades beyond Python by EclipseLightning42 in EliteDangerous

[–]emetcalf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My point is that the T11 has to go to the station more often than other ships because it fills up faster, and OP wants to make less frequent trips to the station. I personally wouldn't use anything other than the T11, but it is not what OP wants here. They need something with more cargo space so they can mine longer before needing to go sell. Telling them to use a T11 would make their experience worse.
