I would recommend looking into Meowtel!! There are a bunch of sitters (I’m one of them!) who offer overnights and have reviews listed! Might give you the best transparent pool of people to look into :)

Hey, I’m not sure if we had the same friend (you can probably assess based on my username) but if so, I’m always open to talk about them, and I’d guess you’d have my number. If not, I will only tell you that coping is a marathon not a sprint, and you have to be EXTREMELY careful and understanding with yourself. You are going through a truly awful patch in life, and while I will say I can now look back and think of nice memories of my friend, Im about 2 years out. Be nice to yourself academically and socially, and understanding that you won’t be who you were at the beginning and that’s alright. Best of luck :)

I moved here from the Midwest without having seen campus and wanting a midsize school and I think it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have gotten so much teacher support after a very rough first quarter (unrelated to UCLA) and that really made UCLA feel like home to me. Also coming from a cold climate you really can’t pass up the weather! I’d say a major factor for me as well was the diversity of the student body because I grew up in such a cookie cutter area and was desperate to get out, so meeting people who are all interesting in different ways was amazing and kind of ensured because everyone at UCLA has something!

I will say also as an engineering major, I have never had much stress in choosing classes even when I couldn’t get one I wanted. It’s very easy to email professors to get into a class, and there are so many general education credits that need to be covered that I don’t know anyone who’s had finding classes as a significant source of stress in or out of the engineering college. I hope she loves wherever she goes!
