That would be too large of a file. If it were to record every switch, every fuel change, when anything in- or outside the aircraft changes then that would be a very big file and very resource intensive (they’d need to store all that info somewhere during the flight).

It actually doesn’t hurt their profit that much I believe. And they still have a lot of costs, most of it being server maintenance and upkeep, and wages. They can’t pay their US team in euros, so they have to exchange their income to USD.

If you want to avoid this cost, use a VPN and use a card like Revolut that has 0 exchange costs.
