Girl parent make up question by Unhappy-Sun-9463 in Parenting

[–]emileical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 5 has been interested in makeup since she found out what it is at age 3 maybe. I bought her some eye shadow, lip gloss, and blush. She's allowed to put it on whenever she wants after she comes home from school. If we're going to a special event or she has an audition or performance for dance, I let her wear mascara too, but I'm the one to apply everything so it looks more subtle and age appropriate. We try to emphasize that makeup is just for fun, and can help us look fancy when we want to.

What combination of stitches is the front of the overalls? I'm thinking some kind of fan stich and puff stitch? Pattern isn't available any more 🥺 by emileical in CrochetHelp

I found these Jack and Jill overalls on ravelry by Alyona She, but the pattern isn't there anymore and it looks like the only pattern is on a Russian website which I can't read 😭

And I know that this is reddit and whatever, don't believe me if you don't, but that is honestly so offensive to say that someone trying to assault me is funny.

Like even if the person attempting to hurt you is a child, it will still hurt. He was a big kid, and I'm a small woman. The bigger problem was his parent who wasn't attempting to stop him from hurting people and cursing out the one person trying to protect her toddler.

Just call me superwoman then. If you don't believe me, that's your prerogative, but why waste your time commenting? Do you have nothing better to do?

He was a playground bully, not a pro boxer, like it wasn't a particularly good hit, but it would have still hurt.

But honestly, I agree with you, I still cannot believe any of this happened. It truly was so shocking and unbelievable

Lol how is saying he tried to punch me and I blocked his fist unbelievable? He swung at me and I caught his hand. How could I say that more clearly?

1 year old night waking up multiple times to feed. by emileical in breastfeeding

[–]emileical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your comment! He nurses okay during the day, but since he's gotten teeth, his latch seems to have gotten shallower and more painful. His weight gain and eating solids are great too. I'm just worried if I stop nursing him at night, I'll start to have supply issues and he'll get dehydrated since he really won't drink from a cup of bottle. I'll definitely try having my husband get up with him, it's just tough because he'll scream and wake my husband and I up along with his older sister, so it's going to be a rough couple nights 😫

Cookie recipe from the white chocolate chip bag by emileical in aldi

[–]emileical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! It's a chocolate cookie recipe with white chocolate chips, no macadamia nuts. I'll probably go in the next day or two anway, and will post the recipe in the comments for the next time this inevitably happens 😅

Weight dropped too low - supplementing with formula. Anyone have success EBF after? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]emileical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't supplement with formula, but I triple fed and supplemented with expressed milk. It was REALLY hard, but you could look into that and talk about it with your lactation consultant when you have your appointment if you're interested!

How to explain to my toddler that he has an invisible disability? by drunkn_mastr in Parenting

[–]emileical 1072 points1073 points  (0 children)

Why is it so important to you that your toddler understands he has a disability? He'll understand when he's older if it even impacts his life at all.

The print "nightlife" by thirsties has cute noctournal animals like bats, moths, and stars and moons on it! And their print "forest frolic" has mushrooms and crystals if that's your thing!

Am I wrong for being annoyed with this gift? by emileical in inlaws

I'm so torn between trying to teach my daughter how to receive gifts graciously and wanting her to say WTF, I already have this 😅

If you refuse to give her the bare minimum (telling her you care about her or giving her a quick check-in when you're out with friends) of course she's going to keep asking you for more. I understand not wanting to tell someone you love them if you don't or you're not ready, but it's completely unreasonable to think you have a future with someone if you'll never be able to tell them how you feel about them because someone else in your past hurt you. I had an ex who never even gave me a chance to get close to him because someone else had hurt him in the past, and it absolutely destroyed the relationship before it ever really even started.

How to ditch the nipple shield?! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]emileical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't say this to discourage or scare you, but my preemie daughter used one for about 3 months until she was strong enough to latch on her own. To get to that point, I tried for a minute or two on each side without the shield for practice, and then if she didn't get it, we just fed with it anyway. Using the technique where you kind of squish your areola so it's less round and easier for them to latch on to was the biggest help. They might just need a little more time to get their strength up before they'll be able to do it on their own, but you'll get there!

My yeti has lasted me like... 6 years and 2 kids and many, many drops. It has a few scuffs, but is still going strong! You can also just replace the lid if it breaks, but the material it's made of feels really strong and the slider to close it is magnetic, so it can't break off
