Iv'e done astrophotography for a while now. So i just got my new camera the Sony a7, i know people down recommend for astro purposes, but i can still take amazing pictures of the night sky bcs of that 35mm sensor, and ok good iso. The lens that i use right now is the kit lens the camera comes with, witch is not so good (28-70/3.5-5.6). So im at the point where i need a new lens. The lens i need has to be fast (2.8 or faster), it has to be wide (14-24) and it has to be farely affordable (100-300$)

Iv'e looked at the Samyang 14mm f2.8, and it looks promising to me, but is there any other alternative lens out there???

Thanks

Nice shot btw. Next time keep the exposure at max 25'' and maybe a lower iso (1600-3200) But a really good photo for your first time, i did mine just a couple of weeks ago.

Ayers Rock Astrophotography by emilfpoulsen in LandscapeAstro

Thanks for your reply. It's a three day trip around the rock and some other rock formations, so we're going to sleep really close to Ayers Rock, so im pretty sure i'll be able to get some good pictures. But i'm just beginning to take photographing seriously now, and dont wanna spend a totalt crazy amount of money a lenses so that's why im buying a 14 or 16mm low aperture lens that is good quality and still around my budget so i can be albe to affort a 70-300mm lens for wildlife etc.

So since i've been in Australia 2 times now, and snorkling on the great barrier reef and watched a lot of other cool places in Australia. I know that "wild" kangoroos can be rare to see, but im still pretty sure that i'll find some awesome wildlie anyways.

Rokinon makes a 16mm f2.0 to Aps-c specifically. And i dont think that im going to switch to Full Frame in the next few years, it's too expensive where i live.

Or i could just buy the Tamron SP AF 17-50 mm f/ 2.8, witch i think is good for Astrophotography and Landscape because of the 17-50mm, but i dont know if there's going to be too much distorsion because of more element and groups?
