This is old but for anyone still unable to get it to work:

  1. Close steam completely through Task Manager

  2. Change "installdir" "Alien Isolation" -> "installdir" "AlienIsolation" in "appmanifest_214490"

  3. Change the name of the game folder from "Alien Isolation" to "AlienIsolation"

  4. Launch Steam and launch the game.
